DJ LeMahieu....Ladies and gentlemen, your 2019 New York Yankees!

You know, he's really not bad. In fact, he's kind of good.

This one isn't stupid. Enjoy it while the feeling lasts.

  1. They've literally spent 3, 4, maybe 5 years with this offseason in mind and they lay the biggest of eggs. The Mets will own the city this year.

  2. I never heard of the guy but three gold gloves since 2014. So OK I guess.

    I think I understand...

LeMahieu is a second baseman so Gleybar to SS but Tulo is already there. Making him a late inning sub for AnDujar. Until Didi returns to play short and Gleybar goes back to second. Tyler Wade goes to the scrapheap or is traded with Gray who is not traded because CC could die, which means we get Keuchel because Voit is right handed meaning ticket prices go up but Machado is probably a no go meaning we focus on Harper to play 1B because he is tall but Bird signed to avoid arbitration which means that Trump declares a national emergency and Ottavino is still available because Red Thunder is hitting off a tee.

    AmIrite?

  3. Doug, I have NO DOUBT that you're right. I know you're too young to have been a writer for Abbott and Costello, but I followed much of what you said.

Here is what I am going to say, and it will be much pithier.

Somebody is going to go. Somebody that we love and care about. I'm not sure who, but it's going to be somebody and it's going to be soon, and it's going to be part of a deal that will be designed and promoted to make us forget who's going, but somebody has got to go.

It's the art of the deal, Cooptown-style.

So much winning these days. So much winning.

Pass the vaseline, Fredo...I'm going in...

  4. Colorado gave Daniel Murphy $24 million for two years. Same as Yanks with Lemahieu. So, Colorado let Lemahieu walk. Lemahieu's WAR over last 4 years is higher than Murphy's. What's going on? What does Colorado know?

    ReplyDelete
  5. they know hiw WAR is probably skewed because he played half his games in Denver.

    I don't get, and I don't like it.

  6. Normally, this would be the point where we start thinking of John Sterling Homer Hollers, but I can't bring myself to do it. I don't think this guy will ever hit one.

  7. Duque,

Since he hits so few it's only a matter time before...

It is High! It is Far! It is Gone! Another record for the DJ. He's really in the groove!

  8. WTF IS GOING ON???????

    GLEYBER IS OUR 2ND BASEMAN.

I GUESS HE MOVES TO SHORT?

    WAIT...TULO IS THERE NOW.

IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL WE'RE DOING....

HOW COULD WE PAY A GUY $24 MILLION TO PLAY SECOND WHEN WE ALREADY HAVE A GOOD YOUNG 2ND BASEMAN???

WHY ARE WE GETTING A PLAYER WE REALLY DON'T NEED?

DOUG K'S FIRST POST SAYS IT ALL.

  9. as Boston breaths a sigh of relief, realizing they will have little real competition in the AL East.

  10. Didi probably won't be back until September, and is not signed for the 2020 season. Torres is a natural shortstop, though granted he is not as good a fielder as Didi. LeMahieu is at least as good fielder at second as Didi is at short.

If Yanks sign Harper, everything gonna be alright.

  11. That's a big IF, Anonymous, but I have a feeling that we will sign Harper. Not much has been said about Harper. All the Manny-talk we've endured has been a diversion.

I'm telling you, the ninja whiz is about to strike!

  12. I told you guys; running the Yankees now is like Syria.

No one has any idea what is going on or why.

    But it is ugly.

  13. In the Smiths song Panic, there's the lyric: "Hang the DJ!" Great for a slump.

Looks like Machado is no show in NY. Harper...???

Yanks might be worried about Didi coming back or Didi coming back next year asking for 25 million/year over 3 or 4 years.

  14. RUNNING COUNT OF WASTED MONEY- (I'M CONCERNED FOR HAL'S WALLET)....

    GARDY $8.5 MILLION
    CC $8 MILLION
    DJ LEMAHIEU $24 MILLION
    TULO $ 500,000

    THAT'S $41 MILLION WASTED DOLLARS.

WE DIDN'T NEED ANY ONE OF THOSE 4 PLAYERS.

    ANY MORE COOP?

    KEEP 'EM COMING...

  15. I'd feel a little better about LeMahieu if he had a great nickname. Then there would be something great about this signing. How about Mookie LeMahieu or Mick LeMahieu?

    ReplyDelete
  16. No, he isn't all that good. Yes, he is an excellent fielder but he is a mediocre hitter that had 1 great year in 2016....in Colorado. He dropped 30 points from 2016 -17 and another 40 points from 2017-18. He hit .272 in Colorado. How he hit and what it plays like in Yankee Stadium is a big question. Sure, he might hit a few more HR than in Co. (15) but I bet his average drops another 30 points because Coors Park has big gaps where his hits dropped in but wont here.

  17. Sterling's Lemahieu HR call: :" DJ.....oh, he it it all the way".

  18. Wouldn't it have been easier and more cost effective and more productive just to keep Torreyes?

    What IS going on?

  19. Sorry, complete HR Call:

The DJ spins one! DJ comes up Le-ma-huuuuuuge!

It's important to get this right because this call will be used approximately twice in 2019.

  20. Hilarious, Doug K.!

And yes, this is where all sense left this off-season. $41 million...for nothing? Nothing at all? WTF?

LeMahieu is a lifetime .264 hitter outside of Coors. Without much power.

But hey: he IS a right-handed hitter! And as we all now, the Yanks can NOT have anyone hit from the left or "sinister" side.

Silver lining: Neil Walker won't be back!
