"Any real Yankees purist should be rooting for Canó to make it to the World Series..."

So says a Joggy-lover...

Do you agree?

  1. The author of that piece is a touch too sanctimonious for the likes of ignorant me.

  2. The contents of the article aside, I'm good with the Mets making it in the NL. Just like I'm good with the Nets and Isles in the playoffs. I hope they win as well. (Even though I am a Knick and Ranger fan.)I hope the Jets become a power in the AFC. Why not?

A while back we were lamenting the sorry state of NY sports especially in comparison to Boston. The above are NY teams too. Just not mine.

At least someone in the city can get some joy out of watching his/her NY teams. Just not me.

  3. I hope he DOES make the World Series and runs amok against the Red Sox.

  4. And I agree, Doug: it's fun to see somebody do well in this town, even when it's not us.

  5. Is Higgy some new Cashman innovation? Like, maybe "The Non-Throwing Catcher."

Five stolen bases in six attempts, most without a throw. While a parade of mediocre pitchers dominates our lineup, and only Judge looks fully awake out there.

After that crisp, quick game yesterday, another long day's trudge into night.

  6. I'm sure Clemens and Boggs were still well beloved by the Sux fans and hoped they'd make it to the WS when they went over to the Yanks.

Honestly I never really cared much for Cano when he was a Yank. His stats were good sure, but as a player not so much so. I was far more into Jeter, like I am with Judge now, for the kids to look up to, admire and aspire to be like.

Either way, being a Yank fan, I rather not see the Mets in the WS for any reason much like not wanting the Red Sox in for any reason. They are on the same level of hate.

  7. I'd love to see him as the WS dugout reporter for ESPN deportes.

  8. His curious approach to the game aside, Cano developed into an incredible player with us. From 2009-2013, he was one of the best second basemen I ever saw, one of the best players in the league, and statistically, at least, the best second-sacker in Yankees history, which is saying something.

Of course, we don't know how much of that was due to the Joy Juice, and Robbie was generally an awful postseason player, .222 in 51 games, with a .267 OBP.

  9. Vampifella, I can't hate the Mets as I do the Red Sox.

For one thing, so many of my fellow New Yorkers are Mets fans. Plus, let's face it, the Mets have never been the threat the Sox are.

  10. Greg Bird is not a player. Time to cut bait.

  12. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT INJURIES.

FOR US TO LOSE THE SERIES TO THAT WHITE SOX TEAM AT HOME, IS A TOTAL DISGRACE.

WE BASICALLY SETTLED FOR TAUCHMAN AND URSHELA INSTEAD OF HARPER AND/OR MACHADO.

HOW IS THAT WORKING OUT FOR US SO FAR?

THE SHIT PRODUCT WE PUT ON THE FIELD TODAY OUGHT TO COME WITH REFUNDS FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT WAS AT THAT GAME.

KEEP IT UP HAL AND COOP.

THE FUCKING DESTRUCTION OF THIS FRANCHISE HAS BEGUN WITH OUR MISGUIDED IDEAS AND THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S "SABERMETRICS" FUELED GAME, SPEARHEADED BY COOPERSTOWN CASHMAN.

  13. And worse is to come, ALL-CAPS. Did you notice how much quicker and more athletic most of those younger ChiSox players are? They're still unschooled, but give them a couple more seasons and they'll be blowing our gears off.

Their pitching doesn't see like much—but it's more than enough to keep us down.

This feels a lot like 1965 right now.

  14. Before this season, the theory was that our Yankees couldn't help doing OK because there were so many tomato can teams they'd be playing. It turns out that the Yankees are one of those tomato can teams.

  17. I didn't root for Joggy when he was on the team, why on earth would I root for him now?
