I haven't taken a long look at the standings recently. The Miracle of Minnesota is looking kind of real since they're 9.5 games ahead. The Rays have yet to realize they're the Rays, but I expect that to happen as the summer wears on. And the Miracle Mariners how have a winning percentage of .407--ok, that's really a winning percentage of 40.7%, but semantics be damned--and are in last place, out of it. Their last 10 they've gone 1-9.
Frankly, it's just fucking STUPID that Maybin, Boone's starting right fielder tonight, in this big game, has an OPS of .766 and one homerun, as opposed to the guy on the bench Frazier, with an OPS of .836 and ten homeruns. No perceived difference in defense compensates for that vast difference in offense. It seems as though the Yankees are reverting to their patented "fuck with the heads of our best young talent until they fail" strategy. And Boone no longer has the excuse of giving Frazier a day off--the rain took care of that.
Yes, it's long past time to pull the plug on Cashman's unaccountable Morales experiment. What's with Cashman? He can't let one season go buy without wasting several months on a washed-up discard?

Yes. Every game is a big game.
ReplyDeleteEvery win is a big Yankee win. But if we win tonight, it will be a bigger one.

ReplyDeleteThat's gotta hurt.

ReplyDeleteAddendum: Maybin is an old spare part; Frazier is a young rising star. There's something wrong with this organization, and that will never change.
ReplyDeleteInexplicable. As usual.
ReplyDeleteHicks!! Hicks!! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!
ReplyDeleteSingle, single, double and single. Love a conga-line rally.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course Sanchez struck out.
I would be very happy to see I've been wrong about Hicks.
ReplyDeleteNice to see Sale give up a few runs.
ReplyDeleteThey must have given the red menace the day off because he bats left handed. (what?) Never mind.
Oh, it was because Morales has been tearing the cover off of the ball.
ReplyDelete...and he's a speed demon on the base paths.
Sale = 1-7
ReplyDeleteAnd the DEVIL Rays also lost.
Yes, it was a good night.
The Yankees keep winning. And they got nothin'! Nothin', I say! Smoke 'n' mirrors! Fat of the land! How are they doing this!?!
ReplyDeleteDoctor Olu, that’s how...

ReplyDeleteKudos to Dr. Olu!
ReplyDeleteI guess sacrificing the goat worked. Or maybe it was giving my credit card number to his Nigerian Prince cousin.
