So it is the top of the eight inning and the yankees are trailing by two runs.
The Yankees have been trailing the entire game.
Happ has been below mediocre the entire game.
The team is on a west coast swoon, determined to undo all the good we saw against the Orioles.
But here was the great hope;
Judge strolled to the plate with two runners on base. A superstar ( a Mantle, a Ruth, a Maris, a Jeter ) delivers at this point. He bangs out a tying double or, more heroically hits a home run for the lead. Even that guy on the Mets who was almost named after me ( Alonso?) would have come through in that spot.
When Judge got to a 3-2 count, I said ( screamed actually ) that he is " going to strike out."
He did.
That was " it" for the Yankees.
No hero. No Ruth. No super star. Just the same old crap. Chew on the length of his meaningless, solo HR from the other day
I turned the TV off and had some Sativa.
Our larger than life players suck.
We lose again today, folks.
The sixth was it for me (the only inning I half watched between falling asleep and the Mrs. telling me to shut the TV off.
ReplyDeleteSaving grace of the evening, saw some people I don't see often enough and stayed in a hotel in St. Botolph's town that also had a nice contingent of Phillies fans. Don't think I like the Phillies, but any team that beats the Carmines is a friend at least for the day.
Call me a heretic, but I'd say trade Judge - if you can - while he's still got some value other than selling swag. Get two young pitchers in return and call it "The Deal of the Century." Plant stories in the opposition media along the lines of "The Steal of the Century." Use the old "he just needs a change of scenery" line and we're good to go. He has not had any major "I'm a made Yankee now" moments. Do it before he does. (He may not, by the way.)
ReplyDeleteWhile you're at it, try to move Stanton. Ellsbury is a lost cause. Can't give him away, but lost Judge now if you can get real pitching in return.
Cashman is a great judge of pitching, so nothing should go wrong, right?
Of course, I realize that I sound like the crackhead who thinks his TV is worth 10 grand at the pawn shop. As Alphonso points out, Judge is probably never going to be a great Yankee name and we'd probably get an Esteban Loaiza in return. I guess we're stuck with him.
ReplyDeleteWow. We. Are. Fucked.
ReplyDeleteYES. We. ARE. Royally Fucked!
ReplyDeleteWE CAN'T HIT TITS-LIT TANNER ROARKE????????

Judge has to be the absolute most overrated player in the league. Seriously, name me anyone more overrated than him.
