I know, I know... it wouldn't have mattered, we were always gonna lose...
But still... injured again?
This is not right. It is not fair.
And what is our bullpen strategy, anyway? Is it to just keep pitching Ottavino until he gets somebody out?
Angry.
Maybe we need to ease up a bit and start thinking of this as a mercy killing. I mean, should we somehow triumph over Houston (even with Ottavino), it might be less painful than being slaughtered by the Nationals.
ReplyDeleteYeah – Fuck you Hal, fuck you Cashman, but I reserve the biggest FUCK YOU for Boone.
I cringe every time I hear some idiot announcer praise him and assure us that he will be Manager of the Year.
How many times have we all screamed at our TVs, computers, iPhones, and radios since April to “Get him [the pitcher] out of there!” or “Don’t take him out yet.” I see Boone’s mismanagement as the single deadliest factor in this pitiful post-season.
In D.C. it’s already the Nats leading by 5-0, two on with one (yes: 1) out in the bottom of the 1st. Do we really want to see the Yankees go up against that?
Pace Dylan Thomas, but maybe we should go gently into that goodnight.
Goddammit, AOBF, stop making so much fucking sense!
ReplyDeletePatrick Corbin in 4 innings: K K K K K K K K K K
ReplyDeleteBoone is a sock puppet. Cash-money is calling the shots.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Boone is a great manager, either.
ReplyDeleteBut really, what is he supposed to do? Nobody's hitting, and Coops has thoughtfully given him the weakest bench ever. The staff is actually doing all right...considering that they have 2 1/2 starters against Houston's 4.
This Yankees team is ridiculously undermanned for the playoffs. We are carrying at least 2 guys who literally can't play. (Three, unless you consider whatever Sanchez is doing "playing.")
I do not consider what Sanchez is doing "playing". And it is high fucking time the Yankees heard me and heeded my words.
ReplyDeleteAny day now...
But, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but
ReplyDeleteThe sabr-douches told us it's ok to swing for the fences! Contact is overrated!
Go for that three run homer with no one on!
Stats tell us that. Who are you going to believe? You eyes or stats?
Time to double down on the Chernobyl book. When I'm done with this one, it's right back into the gulag canon. There is more there than you might think and I have some catching up to do.
ReplyDeleteWe had a chance to run for EE later in the game...oh wait, Stanton was MIA so we couldn't...
ReplyDeleteDoes Stanton think there is no film footage of Kirk Gibson in 1988? Does he think we have never seen an injured player go up to bat anyway?
ReplyDeleteI thought Francesca actually had a good point about this.
If you're "day to day," if you're "iffy" during the playoffs...well, isn't this the time to go for it? What are you saving yourself for?
When you think about the almost HR...
ReplyDeleteSt. Louis Cardinals claim baseballs are traveling less in postseason
ST. LOUIS -- Are the baseballs traveling less distance in the postseason? Cardinals manager Mike Shildt says they are, at least according to data from the team's analytics department.

WE CAN GET AWAY WITH BATTING GARDY 3RD AGAINST THE TWINS.
ReplyDelete....BUT NOT WITH THE ELITE PITCHERS HOUSTON HAS.
TODAY, ALTUVE DID IT AGAIN TO US IN THE FIRST INNING, BUT IN OUR HALF, LEMAHIUE SINGLED AND JUDGE DID TOO. 1ST AND 2ND, NO OUTS, AND GARDY COMING UP.
IN THESE SERIES, YOU HAVE TO MOVE THE RUNNERS OVER, 1 MEASLY RUN CAN MEAN THE GAME.
GARDY POPPED UP. (PROBABLY THINKING BECAUSE HE IS BATTING 3RD, HE NEEDS TO HIT A BOMB).
INNING KILLED.
EVEN THOUGH WE SCORED ONLY 1 RUN THIS GAME, WE HAD COLE IN MORE TROUBLE THAN HE HAS BEEN IN 2 MONTHS.
OH, YOU KNOW WHAT?
FUCK IT.
WE ALL KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.
WE ARE GAME, BUT WE NEEDED THAT EXTRA DIFFERENCE MAKER PITCHER THAT CASHMAN NEVER GETS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE BLEW HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE.
OUR SEASON HAS COME DOWN TO THE NEXT GAME.
ACTUALLY, IT HAS COME DOWN TO US WINNING THE NEXT 2 GAMES WITH NO EXCEPTION.
IF WE LOSE ONE OF THEM, IT'S OVER.
....AND IF THAT HAPPENS, IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG, COLD, MOTHERFUCKING WINTER FILLED WITH HATE, RAGE, AND MURDEROUS INTENTIONS.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Absolutely, ALL-CAPS. Except for one thing: I don't think we win anyway, considering the team Cashman has assembled.
ReplyDeleteBUT, yeah, I was so psyched in that first inning. Judge puts a ball right in the gaping hole left by the shift!!! Brilliant! If LeMahieu had been started, it would've been even more brilliant!
This is when you change tactics: when you know by doing the same old thing, you will lose!!!
Houston has the best pitching you've face all year? The balls are mysteriously not traveling out all of a sudden? MLB has screwed you seven ways to Sunday?
Be liberated! Go wild!
Hit and run! Bunt! Smack balls through those truck-sized gaps in the infield!
Again, as Casey Stengel said once after he pinch-hit for a guy in the third inning: "What'd you want me to do? Just stand there and lose?"
For the Yankees braintrust, that's the best they can think of.
You have to give props to HOF Brian Cashman he has meticulously put together a team that can crush the Minnesota Twins. I never seen that type of utter dominance. Unfortunately the Astros, Red Sox and every other f'ing team tries to build a team that can win it all. Until this guy is gone, it will be groundhog day every year. He'll focus on the one dimensional player like EE, Stanton, Sanchez (and fill in the blanks) that will kill all the piss poor teams in the league, but can't touch good pitching. In addition to that, he will bring in the Big Game Paxton, Javy (2x) Vasquez and Michael Pinata (and again fill in the blanks) who fold like cheap suits when it matters. In the last 20 years P Martinez, C Shilling, Verlander, Cole, Sale, Sherzer have all been available either by trade or FA and we came up with nothing. You can blame Hal, but when you spend 200+ million every year and come up empty, I'd lock up the check book too. It really is sad!
ReplyDeleteI have so many bad things to say about so many things...Sanchez, Stanton, etc... but I shall limit it to just a couple of things for the sake of brevity and my sanity. Both of these relate to my biggest complaint...the idiot we have for a manager that will be Manager of the Year!
ReplyDelete1. How can you possibly justify dropping Gleyber from third to fifth in the batting order? Has he done something wrong? Other than win game 1 for us? Wouldn't it have been nice to see him step in the batter's box in the first inning after DJ and Judge led off with singles? Gardner? Really? I love Gardy but he is mired in the middle of a terrible slump.
2. Ottavino. When he entered the game when the game was still in reach I almost fell out of my chair. He was great the first half of the year. Since that time he has gotten worse and worse to the point that he is absolutely terrible now. He once again was awful and the game was out of hand in a flash.
Boone is an idiot.
Brett
