The Parrot is out

Yanks cutting ties to Mr. O-for-October.

Likable fella, but 1-18 with 11 strikeouts lessens the sting of "Goodbye."

  1. That was a bit of a no-brainer, but at least he's gone the healing process can begin.

I hope he takes his stinking parrot with him, and the entirety of that embarrassing farrago is soon forgotten.

  3. AOBF, EE had been walking the parrot for most of his quite long career.

I wish illness on you Hal. I wish cancer and death on you. A cruel debilitating cancer that deprives you of your ability to "lead" this noble franchise and then after interminable suffering takes your life before your time.

  5. He was all right. When he could play.

Why do I think that will be the epitaph for every Yankee of this era?

  6. Won't miss the parrot.

Off topic: they're saying Cole at $300 mil. No way Yankees touch that. Those days are over. I bet they don't even make an offer.

Front office doesn't see this season as anything but a win. They made money. They'll keep it. End of story.

  7. I like the decisions to shed EE and Roth The Not-So-Magnificient -- and so do you. I was getting optimistic, so....

Just to inject a bit of sour into my day, I just checked Sportrac.com (I have nothing to do with that website, this isn't a promo).

Jacoby Ellsbury will be paid $21 million in calendar year 2020.

Happ is on tap for $17 million. Yes, in 2020.

Aaron Hicks, of course, may not be seen at all next year. He'll be paid more than $10M.

The page for the NYYs shows the team paying EE $5 million this year -- and Alex R (you remember him?) another $5 million in 2020.

The site provides a number for GStanton, of course -- right at the top of the team's list. If I make out the meaning of the next-to-last column correctly, he's slated to receive 12.91% of the team's 2020 payroll (*as of this moment).

  8. EE didn’t distinguish himself in the Houston series. All the more reason to part ways with him.

  9. Very true, JJ. And yes, this does look awful Joe FOB.

Though I think it is POSSIBLE that Happ could bounce back with the BoJo of the Bronx gone...

  10. Good, this leaves a spot open for the Chris Carter comeback!
