  1. Does that make him a free agent? We should sign him. We need a Center Fielder.

  2. Shocked I tell ya...shocked. Guess Hal is not interested in the Ells insurance money...

Something is in the works if the 40 man roster is being pruned.

    1. Insurance wasn’t covering this year’s salary so they had nothing to lose

  3. What does Estevan Florial, Deivi García, Luis Gil, Brooks Kriske, Luis Medina, Nick Nelson & Miguel Yajure have in common?

None of them have plantar fasciitis...

Sorry, ALL-CAPS, but I'm just too happy. Ellsbury and Bird gone in one day???

  6. Oh, and please indulge me in a quick shout-out to Cabish 47, just wanting to make sure he saw my reply to his earlier post:

Cabish 47, I was sitting in the right field bleachers that night with my father. It was my (advance) 12th birthday gift.

"I" single, Jerry Kenney doubles, Bobby Murcer singles, Roy White homers. Bing-bang-bing, just like that. It went from 7-0 to 7-4, and Siebert was out of the game.

Of course, Sparky Lyle came in to finish us off after that, but I was just glad to avoid the humiliating no-hitter. It was also, as I recall, one of the rare bad games I ever saw Stan Bahnson have against the Red Sox. He'd beat them, 1-0, in my birthday game at Fenway in 1968 (Mickey Mantle got a single!), and then he would beat them the year after, 1971, 6-0. (Ron Blomberg actually played right field!).

Yanks had a pretty good team in 1970, and that was the only game they lost in a four-game set up in Boston, all the other games pretty exciting (at least for me, as a Yankees fan). Can't believe that was 49 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday, and still have the scorecard somewhere.

  7. Read that his last year wasn't insured, which made it very easy to release him.
