I'm sorry, I was a big Creedence fan, and was glad Fogerty milked the sound for an 80s hit album, but I've always hated this song. Just hate it. Not sure why, but I do.
The best baseball song ever was "Say Hey (The Willie Mays Song)" by the Treniers. And Willie makes an audio cameo, too.
That is a good one, JM. So is Count Basie and Buddy Johnson's "Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball?"
Others include, "Joe, Joe, DiMaggio/ We want you on our side...", Tin Pan Alley's very own, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," the maudlin but irresistible Sinatra, "There used to be a ballpark right here...", Dion's "I used to be a Brooklyn Dodger," and of course "Meet the Mets," just because there are so many ways to rewrite it:
"Meet the Mets Cleat the Mets Come right out and beat the Mets... For the Mets are really sucking their balls Taking their falls..."
