Plague Theater: Steve Hamilton throws the Folly Floater

One of the most theatrical moments in Yankee history, called by the Scooter.

  2. I was at that doubleheader. I remember Munson's great play to catch the pop-up but couldn't see Horton crawl into the dugout (obstructed view from the 3rd deck). Hamilton struck out the next hitter with the only appearance of the Folly Fire (fake Floater); the guy talked to himself the whole way out to right field.

Weird day -- Bobby Murcer went between two monuments pursuing a triple; Ray Fosse was blown up by a cherry bomb and the two games were nearly forfeited to Cleveland (that's what Bob Sheppard warned, anyway); Murcer hit his four consecutive home runs (interrupted by a walk). The DH probably began at 1 and was over by 6.
