Virtual Off-Day: The Iceman Cometh. Domingo German Returneth?

The streaking Virtual Yankees headed for a two-game set in Imp-an'-Iron land today, with a 47-25 record, just 5 games behind the still warm-to-the-touch Tampa Bay Rays, and set to welcome back two more prodigal sons.

One is Aroldis "Machine Gun" Chapman, who returned to the club with the startling diagnosis that Goop had failed to heal two of the fingers on his pitching hand, still fixed in a strange, twisted grip due to a freezing accident that occurred when the ace reliever stayed out too long in an earlier game marred by rain and a sudden temperature drop.

Chapman is going to try throwing anyway, to see if he can get any of that ol', 105-mph magic back on the ball.

Meanwhile, the Yankees' leading winner from last season, Domingo German, is scheduled to make his season debut in the Pharma Research City.  After his extra-long off-season and abbreviated training camp, German said through a translator that he is eager to take the mound again, and that he is sure his emotional problems have been solved by the token donation and three hours of counseling MLB required of him along with his 81-game suspension.

"This is my second chance.  I'm not going to blow this one," German told reporters.
