Better but not BETTER

Looks like Rickie Ricardo will continue to do the play-by-play through the weekend (with Suzyn, of course) for the redsock series.

We wish the Master a speedy recovery and in his absence, here are a few vintage images of our hero.

    The first Yankees radio broadcast was in 1939. John has been our guy for 32 years. 32/81=39.5%. Yeah he’s broadcast nearly 40% of all Yankee games broadcast. And he better not be even close to done yet... if he dies I’m gonna kill him.

    Ricky Ricardo has obviously been studying at the feet of the Master. It's uncanny. The voice isn't exactly the same, obviously (as the Master would say), but the timing, intonation, and that certain ineffable style, is pure Sterling. I've long been a John Sadak partisan. His work with the RailRiders, and lately as the Mets fill in, was/is top notch. But Ricardo is the obvious successor.
