On an off-day, Rudy Giuliani falsely accuses the Yankees of disrespecting the flag

For some time now, Rudy Giuliani has been cramming for the Trump cognitive brain test for dementia. Used to be, you might not agree with his politics, but you didn't imagine him debating a street lamp. Yesterday, his mini-dust up with the Yankees came straight out of Crazytown. Here's the quick slice:

Okay, I know what you're thinking: There he goes again, injecting politics into a Yankee blog. What a schmuck. For that, I apologize. Generally, I try not to go there because of - well - Jesus Montero. Once upon a time, I was absolutely sure that Jeez would be a great hitter, maybe in the Hall of Fame. Turned out, he was a walking ice cream sandwich. If I dead wrong about Montero, I could be wrong about anybody - even Dear Leader.

But after six decades in politics, you'd think Giuliani would know better than to tweet first and ask questions later. A phone call or email to Randy Levine would have been quickly returned. He could have easily received an explanation about the Yankees' actions regarding BLM, which I think were heartfelt and appropriate. But that would have gotten in the way of a fun tweet.

I have five words for Rudy and suggest he writes them down.

Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.

  1. Please, sincerely, stop with the politics. Get it, you hate Trump and all collateral attachments. Please turn the page . Or, write a story about how Dementia Joe will protect us all from Dog-faced Pony Soldiers.
Please write about how Red Thunder willed us to the promised land and stuff like that. Thanks.

  3. Difficult to disconnect and imagine a fantasy world where Red Thunder leads our favorite team to the Promised Land while unavoidable in our collective consciousness Orange Shitstorm is ruining literally everything up to, and including, first pitch.

  4. Rudy is a fuckwad. And I cleaned that up considerably. He is a true confederate with the POS in the white house.

So, Anon, we ain't turning the page. Why not go find one of those nice white supremacy baseball blogs in Boston? Maybe that will be more to your liking.

Speaking of baseball, why the fuck was Gardner batting fifth Thursday night? Does he even belong batting ninth? Red hits a monster shot and then sits? That makes no sense to me.

  5. MR, DUQUE.

I LOVE THIS BLOG, (AND THE PEOPLE ON IT).

...UNFORTUNATELY, NOT WHEN IT GETS POLITICAL.

YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT RUDY NOT GETTING THE DETAILS ABOUT WHEN THE KNEELING WAS DONE, AND HE WAS WRONG FOR NOT DOING SO.

...BUT RUDY IS 100% CORRECT ABOUT BLM, (AND ANTIFA).

THEY ARE NOT THIS "INNOCENT BUNCH OF DO-GOODERS, WITH A CAUSE" WHO "PEACEFULLY PROTEST" TO GET THEIR MESSAGE ACROSS. THEY ARE A MARXIST ORGANIZATION, FUNDED BY FACTIONS OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY. (LOOK UP THE DEFINITION IF YOU DISAGREE).

MOST OF THESE BIG CITY PROTESTS ARE PEACEFUL UNTIL IT HITS 11 PM AT NIGHT.

THEN FROM 11 PM TO 4 AM, THERE IS HELL ON THE STREETS.

THEY RIOT, TEAR DOWN, SET FIRES, THROW OBJECTS AT POLICE AND LOOT IF THEY WISH, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. (AND THE ROTTEN, COMPLICIT, MAINSTREAM MEDIA WON'T COVER THIS INCREDIBLE DISCOURSE).

...AND THESE DEMOCRATIC MAYORS AND GOVERNORS ARE ACTUALLY CONDONING THIS BEHAVIOR, AND REFUSE TO APPLY LAW AND ORDER TO STOP THIS ANARCHY.

    IT IS TRULY UNBELIEVABLE.

I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH PEOPLE HATE THE PRESIDENT, HE IS THE ONLY ONE TRYING TO RESTORE ORDER.

...MOREOVER, IF YOU THINK HE IS THE CAUSE OF THE VIRUS, YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND. (SO CALLED "INTELLIGENT" PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY SAYING THIS)...

TRUMP HATERS- BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.

    ARE YOU ENJOYING THE PREVIEW?

    1. Giuliani is and was a fool. As for you, like all right wingers, you live in an alternate reality designed by your own bigotry, ignorance, and cowardice. In Nov. the unqualified reality show host who conned the rubes into voting for him will be thrown out of office, and the adults will take charge to repair the damage

  6. This team is so loaded. I have a healthy love and admiration for Gardner but it’s hard to imagine the offense not being stronger with Red, Tauchman or Andujar getting those ABs. Idk. With MT there isn’t the fall off in defense or left handedness. First world problems.

  7. Duque,

Truly enjoy your blog and respect the rights of all commentators to vent on Red Thunder, Gardy or POTUS. If folks are offended, they can simply click-over to Sean Hannity's blog (does one exist). So, I think it's fine that Anon. believes Trump is "trying to restore order", though I think that's so much BS. Trump had armed personnel use gas and weapons to clear the path to mug with the bible (what a joke). He uses racist comments to incite his racist political base., plain and simple. Anon. is correct in his observation that Trump didn't cause Covid. No, he simply ignored the facts flowing from international and national sources of the dangers involved greatly increasing US deaths. And Anon, why doesn't Trump simply release his tax returns like all modern day presidents? Do you think his rabid base may be offended by his tax evading behavior and his laundering activities for Russians? I personally don't believe this would make any difference to his base supporters who seem not to care he is Putin's house pet.

  8. Trump & Cronies don't need facts; they make up their own facts. @ Unknown, yeah, Putin's house pet. Amen.

Remember the flights coming in from Wuhan, China before the virus explosion here? Everyone was asking why Trump didn't stop those flights. He finally stopped them, after everyone else had talked about it for a month or two. During an epidemic, a few hours or a single infected person makes all the difference. Trump & Co. did nothing for a couple of months until the whole thing exploded. WTF happened to the commerce clause of the Constitution? The thing interpreted by the Supreme Court to mean the federal government can do anything when it comes to interstate commerce. Has Covid-19 had enough of an impact on the national economy for Trump to get off his wrinkled old ass and take charge of testing and distribution of masks and other essentials? Apparently not, I guess the epidemic has nothing to do the economy.

  9. I wrote a fairly long comment about all of this, but in the spirit of Yankeehood, this is the only sentence I decided to put up.

You fucking Trumpettes! Do you have to kill everything, just like your beloved orange/yellow master, who actually believes himself to be a genus because he can learn five words and identify where he is and draw a clock? Please, forget about masks and go someplace with a large, closely-crowded bunch of people who share your idiotic values, and breathe in a lot.

This is a baseball website. I sincerely hope that El Duque takes down this page (including my comment). I come here because we don't have baseball in my country (or on my continent) and I hate to see the efforts of some good and honest people - Duque, Alphonso, Horace Clarke, just to name three - trashed because you have to put your stinking footprints in everything.

You know: we used to think you were just a joke, but we now officially hate you. Your president Kennedy took America to the moon. Now your "president" can't even get you to Canada! Please stay in you banana republic and stay off of websites where you and your politics have no place.

  11. SORRY TO MY INTOLERANT FRIENDS... (TY FOR SHOWING CLASS JM)- ALTHOUGH YOUR QUOTE SHOULD READ, "I'M SORRY THAT ALL CAPS HAS SUCH A DIFFERENT VIEW THAN MOST OF US-ON THIS SITE."- THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE THINKING AND SAYING EXACTLY WHAT I POSTED.

...BUT MY LAST POST WAS THE TRUTH.

...AND I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DON'T SEE THINGS AS I (AND MILLIONS OF OTHERS), SEE THEM.

...BUT THAT'S WHAT AMERICA IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE, RIGHT?

WE ARE ALL ENTITLED TO OUR OPINION AND OUR VOTE.

...BUT MANY PEOPLE ON ONE SIDE, ARE INCENSED TO EVEN HEAR THE NAME TRUMP, AND SHOW TOTAL INTOLERANCE.

    THAT'S FINE.

    VOTE DEMOCRAT.

I WON'T BE. (AND MILLIONS WON'T BE EITHER).

  12. Here’s the thing that bothers me about random politics on this baseball/poetry blog. Things like this: “ Remember the flights coming in from Wuhan, China before the virus explosion here? Everyone was asking why Trump didn't stop those flights. He finally stopped them, after everyone else had talked about it for a month or two”. There are so so many legitimately weird or wrong things that any politician does that you don’t have to make stuff up as well when making an argument. The travel restrictions came out in late January, and numerous trump haters called him a racist xenophobic for doing it. It’s the exact opposite of the anonymous post. Why pick up on and repeat something you heard that is untrue? Easy, because this is a baseball blog and there’s not much non-baseball thought going on.

Am I a Trumpster? Eh I’d rather have someone else but he’s the only one I can vote for. I’m sad Trump is going to lose, not for Trump, but for the coming 13 member Supreme Court, two new states with four Democrat senators ensure Democrat one party rule forever, the elimination of 60+ vote requirement in Senate, and the resulting massive change towards more government control of our everyday lives. He’s gong to massively set back the small government freedom libertarian agenda for a generation. So slam him if you want, but make sure you’re right first.

  17. IN MY DEFENSE, I HAVE SAT QUIET FOR OVER 3 YEARS ON THE OCCASIONAL POLITICS ON THIS SITE.

    REALIZING IT ONLY CAUSES STRIFE.

    ... BUT TODAY, I COULDN'T HELP IT.

I STILL RESPECT YOU ALL, BUT IF YOU WANT ME TO BOW OUT. I'M SURE YOU WILL ALL LET ME KNOW.

IT STILL IS ALL ABOUT OUR YANKEES.

...OR AT LEAST, IT SHOULD BE.

  18. I think ALL-CAPS has a point, much as I probably disagree with him on just about every political issue there is.

I do think that when a politician—such as Rudy, in this case—INJECTS himself into the game, AND doesn't know WTF he's talking about, well, it becomes Yankee news. But I think we need to limit—voluntarily!—these discussions, or it's just going to explode as it's doing everywhere else.

The Great One wants to endorse Trump? That's his business.

Players want to take a knee in support of BLM? That's their business.

Rudy Giuliani is so desperate for a purpose in a life where he's cut pretty much all of his ties to everyone? Well, if he keeps his mouth off the Yankees in the future, that's his business, too.

Unless, of course, he is criticizing Giancarlo Stanton. In which case we can all come together and sing kumbaya.

  19. Sorry. The great one supporting a fascist and players taking a knee to support a social cause is a false equivalency. Being polite and trying to find common ground with people who support views spewed by white nationalists is why we have the leadership we have had for the last three plus years. “I just couldn’t vote for her” is an unacceptable excuse. The proof is in the pudding.

  20. I am dictating this, so please excuse any typos or foreign sounding syntax. SIRI hates my guts.

While I believe the Duque can and should write about anything he wants, And while I am firmly on the side that Hoss and Duque fall on, politically, and cannot fathom how anybody could support a criminal, grifter, traitor and self-serving demented moron for president, I have always liked how this blog has been sort of a neutral place for all sides to gather and support a higher cause.

Sadly, there is no more discourse in this country, this most polarized country, and that may now extend here.

I would like to think that we could get rid of the monster who has tried to rule by dividing us, but I don’t know what will happen. Either way, the damage is done and I hope we can eventually get back to baseball.

    That's just my vote.

  27. This is not a political statement. Just an observation: Giuliani looks like a well-preserved cadaver with brand new dentures.

  28. Unfortunately, we are heading for the next Civil War. I prefer capitalism and free enterprise over socialism and communism. [ All four of my grandparents left totalitarian states to come here.]That's my right.I worked in the criminal court system in Upstate NY as both an ADA and a Defense Attorney. I then spent 21 years in Judiciary. My experiences in over literally thousands of cases was that there was virtually no racism in that system. I personally litigated 32 murder defendants as a trial attorney. [Easy stat to keep]. 27 were black or Hispanic , just a fact. Lest you call me a white supremecist, which is to current "go to term", I am 12.5% African. SERIOUSLY EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH YOU is not a bigot. The level of vitiriol I see on a daily basis leads me to conclude the there will be a Civil War

  29. @ Beauregard J "The travel restrictions came out in late January, and numerous trump haters called him a racist xenophobic for doing it."

That's right, and everyone had been talking about for a month already why Trump hadn't shut down those flights. By November, we'd started hearing about the virus in Wuhan. Some were asking why he hadn't stopped flights coming in from Wuhan. By December, everyone was talking about why he hadn't stopped those flights.

I certainly never called him a racist xenophobe for stopping those flights. It was overdue by a month or two. Had nothing to do with racism or xenophobia. When you have an epidemic, you close off contact with the infected area. It was certainly stupid of Trump not to do it much earlier.

    The Hammer of God

  30. Anon - Sometimes it's not a choice between free enterprise and communism, which in and of itself is not the actual choice we will be making in November BTW, it's a choice between Free Enterprise and Stupid.

Almost 800 bar owners across the state will participate in Freedom Fest, an event where bar owners will defy Abbott’s June 26 order that closed bars as the state’s coronavirus numbers surged."
