In fact, Yankee news these days comes with price tags, loud what-ifs and professional poormouthing. It sounds as though the franchise will be lucky just to keep the 2020 lineup that finished with baseball's 10th best record - one game ahead of the rapidly ascending Blue Jays.

The Rays and Dodgers are champions playing for the World Series. Amazing baseball with hopefully 3 more great games to go.

ReplyDeleteWhen they brought in Janzen last night I had the same feeling that I get when we bring in Chapman. It is a mistake and they are going to lose.
ReplyDeleteWhen Kiermaier opened the inning by getting on base I became sure of it. They should not give him the ball again in a big game. And the Yankees should do the same with Chapman.

Doug K. -- Of course, Kevin Cash and the entire Rays organization use analytics-based decision-making, and they're merely competing for a world title with one of the smallest payrolls in baseball. So there's that counter-evidence to your incessant, predictable philistine attacks on analytics.
ReplyDeleteI say let Happ go—we do plenty of our own whining here, we don't need it from a starter—let Paxton go (he will never be able to throw more than 150 innings in a season, and may not approach that again), and take a chance with Britton.

Ottavino is signed for another year, unfortunately. I'd like to see us take a flier on Bauer and maybe some others—but they won't do that.
