The Death Barge has traded Mike Ford to Tampa for "cash considerations" and a player to be named later. (Note: That's not short for "Cashman considerations.")
A bit of a surprise, considering the two teams.
As for rating the deal, here are some guideposts:
a) Ford hit .133 this season for the Yankees. (Jay Bruce hit .118; Chris Gittens is hitting .059.)
b) No money amount is listed.
c) The player to be named later isn't listed. (Duh.)
d) One front office has mediocre success in trades. (See Tailon, Jameson.)
e) The other is the best in baseball. (See Meadows, Austin; Arozarena, Randy; et al.)
Good luck to Ford in sticking it to the Yankees in October, assuming that both are still playing.

Yes the very same prospect who blew his career in a bar fight.
Supposedly, he has been bar-tending at local 4H Club celebrations, and " soft tossing" on the side. ( not meant to imply vomiting ).
He is now a righty.
He jus the Yankees 4th highest rated prospect.
We can safely say that the player we get in return for Ford wont be the next incarnation of Lou Gehrig

ReplyDeleteFriends of mine and myself give The Yankee players nicknames. Usually the poor ones. A friend of mine named Mike Ford Lou Costello (if you do not know who he is, look him up.) Ford like Costello is short and stocky. I heard that Genius Cashman received three players for Ford. Sidney Fields, Stinky and Mr. Bachagaulupe. Ford like Choi will come back to NY and destroy the Yankees pitchers.

ReplyDeleteWhy would you want to trade anyone to your chief rival in the same division? I don't care if the player sucks. There's always a chance that he comes back to haunt you. Don't those guys already have enough ex-Yankees who kill our pitching?
