What games are the Yankees playing?
Either they are proving that the vaccines don't work against Covid, or they aren't telling the absolute truth about who is fully vaccinated and who isn't.
It is a great way to justify losing to the Bosox.
Six key players out, with the latest additions being judge and Urshela? And our two best ( besides Cole ) pitchers of late?
And it is only happening to the Yankees?
Too bad there are no more independent, investigative journalists.
We have to get our information from baldy Brian.
Whose lies appear as shiny spots.
As Jake {Brian} Blues would say --
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!
ReplyDeleteAdvice: STOP asking if this season could be any worse.
We keep getting answers that are worser and worser.
You thought Fidel LoCastro was the bottom. THEN 6 guys got sick with an illness for which they were (supposedly) vaccinated.
Fairly soon, Cashman will ask Duque if he wouldn't mind warming up in the bullpen...
Roster moves:
ReplyDeleteThe Yankees recalled outfielder Greg Allen, infielder/outfielder Hoy Park and catcher Rob Brantley from Triple-A with Judge, third baseman Gio Urshela and catcher Kyle Higashioka going on the COVID IL. Chris Gittens was also recalled from SWB. Brantly and Park signed major league contracts and they are on the 26-man roster.
It will look embarrassing if Brantly catches Cole when he pitches in this series.
Also, Luke Voit on 10 day EL with left knee inflammation.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shit storm...
Tonight's lineup...
ReplyDelete1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
3. Rougned Odor (L) 2B
4. Gary Sanchez (R) C
5. Gleyber Torres (R) SS
6. Brett Gardner (L) CF
7. Chris Gittens (R) 1B
8. Trey Amburgey (R) RF
9. Tim Locastro (R) LF
FFS this is awful...
Also from the NYY transactions page:
ReplyDeleteBritton is back.
Believe it or not: Odor changed his uniform number to 12.
The injured/COVID list now includes:
Cortes
Frazier
Hicks
Higgy + Miggy
Judge
Kluber
Lasagna
O'Day
Peralta
Sevvy
Ursh
I notice they did NOT call up Deivi or Wade. Wade was option 7/5, which -- maybe -- makes him ineligible to come back now?
Wade is on the 26-man.
ReplyDeleteI wanna see Park. Wtf?
ReplyDeletemake that seven - luke is back on the IL

ReplyDeletesorry ranger. i just saw your commnent
ReplyDeletethis is turning into the bad news bears
and in honor of our fallen comrade ALL CAPS, i am going on a diet of small caps
where have you gone ALL CAPS, our blog turns it's lonely eyes to you.
Oh, it's AmBURRgie. Not my guess going in.
ReplyDeleteGardner misjudged another one.
ReplyDeleteWait. What happened to ALL CAPS?
ReplyDeleteHe left a year ago cause of the politics. I did not agree with him on politics, but I liked the guy and it's a loss. Too bad that things have gotten so polarized in this country, but I won't say more. No politics on this blog is THE ONLY WAY. I just want us all to get along and talk baseball.
ReplyDeleteWinnie, I asked in another thread and you may not have seen, but I have one concern with Covid. More than one, actually, but I can't find any good data on this:
If you're vaccinated and you get a breakthrough infection and it's asymptotic or mild, is it possible that you can get some type of Long Covid months later? Do I worry too much? Just curious what you may know about that.
The New York Seconals. I think you'd have to go back to '91 or so to find a Yankee team that was not only this bad but also this BORING.
ReplyDeleteWell, for those clamoring to bring up the AAA "Studs", enjoy. Barring a true Miracle, by Monday we won't have to gnash our teeth over the prospect of trading all the future stars we've been hoarding in the minors. In two years we'll be sending seven or eight guys to the All-Stars from that crop.
ReplyDeleteOur team should not have had to play that game tonight, and if HAL had even one ball we would not have.
ReplyDeleteKevin, I have very limited expectations for our AAA sluggers. But do you really think it's better to have Gardy and HBP Locastro and Rouged Knees out there indefinitely?
I'd rather see if the kids can do anything.
Take heart, boys . . . as Kay and Sterling and Suzyn are bound to remind us tomorrow, the Yanks are down only EIGHT games in the all-important loss column!
ReplyDeleteSuzyn's mic was out for most (maybe all) of the eighth, The Master named two production credits right up front without a Caaaannnnndy among 'em, and in the postgame phlegmfest (complete with the necessary "obvious"es) ma boone said,"win or lose tomorrow,..." with Cole listed to start.
ReplyDeleteThe iceberg is in the mirror. This team is finished from top to bottom in more ways than a simple cynical bastard like me can comprehend. But I am the mist and the waves and the water, and to the extent it matters I am not changing. Because I can't. Win my heart (as this team did almost 50 years ago) and I am with you...if you are honest. But if you fuck me over? If you fuck US over? The lifeboats won't help you.
Boone: 'We're in a hole'
ReplyDeleteHe can’t even see the fact that it is a bottomless pit.
If they continue to play Odor and bat him 3rd against a lefty, maybe we should devote this blog to politics.
ReplyDeleteHow about that inflation rate? At lest I am in line to get the largest SS COLA in about 40 years.
I'm sorry, no politics, I know.
Can we talk about sex?
Speaking of which , the Yanks suck.

ReplyDeleteI don't know how old you are. I'm 67. This means my initial years as a fanatic Yankees fan -- when, in a different NYC, I could get on the subway in Brooklyn, go to the Bronx with a bag of sandwiches from my mom, and sit thru all 18 innings of a double-header -- were in the late 1960s. By the way, my dad worked (hard) for not much money. The cost of going to a ballgame was not nothing, but it was not horrible. I didn't get pushback from my parents, at all.
BUT: The late 1960s and early 1970s were not so great for Yankees fans, were they?
Maybe that's why the failures from 2010 to present seem so familiar. I keep seeing (in my mind's eye) visions of Jerry Kenney playing 3B . . . that stupid hop he had to take in order to get the ball to first base. That memory of Jerry is conjured up by Odor, Gardner, LoCastro, etc.
[Incidentally, Jerry's batting avg. was .237 in 1369 at-bats, almost all of which came for the Yankees. He hit 7 HR in that time. Does this ring some kind of current bell? ]
HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE: At age 67, I'm more demanding of gratification. If I buy a book, sit down to read it, and the first 10-25 pages are pabulum, I stop reading -- there's not enough time to waste on such a thing. When my wife and I sat down to watch a much-praised TV series, Fleabag, it seemed to be total shit to us -- so we (rather quickly) went on to something else.
Ditto the effort put into watching or listening to a ballgame. I'm impatient. I don't expect my team to win every game, or every season. But my expectations are that they won't just stink up the joint Every Single Game, every AB, every misadventure on the bases, every time someone tries to close a game. You can lose, but to do that while getting 1 hit, or 2 hits, or 3 hits . . . I ain't got time for that.
That's why the other thing (besides Jerry) that the current crapola spurs in what's left of my mind is the song with the lyrics "he's King Midas in reverse."
Sorry to be long-winded. I wrote this to see if it's what others on this blog -- people whose words and ideas I enjoy reading, and admire -- are experiencing.
Yeah Joe, I remember being a kid in the 60's and using my paper route money to buy the "high power" transistor radio so I could pull in Yankee games from Syracuse. I had to get on the top bunk and get in the north east corner of the room to get them.
ReplyDeleteWe rearranged the furniture so I could do that.
A home run from the Mick was always special in the summer when I could stay up late and hear five or so innings.
Now we have a fragile prima donna on the team who can't hit in the clutch and can't play in the field. Mickey's ghost should be-itch slap him.
Let's boo Stanton right off the team. So he demands a trade to a west coast team and we can even pay most of his salary.
Watching him play is like going to my parents' graves. Always sad, but somehow have to do it because I feel compelled by a higher force. Always conflicted.

I hear ya. And I think the problem, like anything, is the money.
ReplyDeleteI'm 63 next month, so I started rooting for the Yanks a little later.
But I remember, when I was back in New York starting in 1976, you could go get a day-of-game ticket upstairs for $2.50—cheaper than a movie ticket, which was $3.50-$4!—go get an empty seat right above home plate (a good view, if high), and maybe move downstairs later on.
All that, to see great baseball in a great era of baseball!
I understand that, to a certain degree, the game has been a victim of its own success. But to expect people to routinely pay $50-$100 for this crap? Not to mention an extra 30-60 minutes of time, to see one of the most boring versions of the game?
This isn't our fault, gentlemen. It's baseball's, and the Yankees'.
I won $29,000,000 in the power ball lottery, I took advice from a person who talked about this great spell caster called Dr. OKOYE. The person placed a testimonies on a blog saying how Dr. OKOYE helped him win the lottery by sending him the winning number.
