The future

Today, the " new Mickey Mantle" participated in the "Futures" game, held at Coors field.

And in the fifth inning, we got to see what we have coming to the Bronx soon;

Jessica Dominguez struck out with two men on, killing the AL's only chance to get back in the game.

So this young player ( labeled as " already better than Mike Trout " ( disregarding Trout being inactive due to injury ) will fit right in to the modern Yankee club.

Leave those runners in scoring position.  Strike out at key moment.

Turning, briefly, to the draft, I know the Yankees are so far down that they may not select until midnight, but there is a prospect we should try to land.

He is a pitcher from Long Island, and the first Jewish Orthodox player ever.

I think he is a lefty, so he would last for 20 years....like Justin Wilson.

There would have to be a few adjustments made to the buffet table, but that might be good for everyone.

Our future is kosher.

  1. But what can a poor boy do,
Except sing for a rock and roll band?
    Cause in sleepy London town
There's just no place for a street fighting man.

  2. Is this the real life?
    Is this just fantasy?
    Caught in a landside,
    No escape from reality
    Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
    Little high, little low,
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to
    Me, to me

    Watch the revolution,
No more free steps to heaven,
    It's no game

  4. I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
And stops my mind from wandering
    Where it will go

I'm filling the cracks that ran through the door
And kept my mind from wandering
    Where it will go

And it really doesn't matter if
    I'm wrong I'm right
    Where I belong I'm right
    Where I belong
    See the people standing there
    Who disagree and never win
And wonder why they don't get in my door

  5. What? Are you daft, Alphonso?

Jasson is up to .200 in the Florida Complex League. Which is much more complex than the Florida Simple League.

Also, he drove in a run!

I don't see how you can doubt his futures.

  6. But I kid. I shouldn't doubt.

Look at how well Cashman's amazing, 1-2, double-catcher draft picks worked out from 2018.

Why Josh Breaux is TEARING up the melodically named "High A East" league. In his fifth year of pro ball, he's hitting .265 with 12 homers...AND...throwing out 18 percent of baserunners in his career.

Meanwhile, pick no. 1, Anthony Seigler, is up to .205 on the same Hudson Valley Renegades team this year. With 1 homer and 12 ribbies. But don't worry: he throws out 7 percent of baserunners!!!

The future's so bright, well, we all should wear shades.

  7. Something is clearly wrong tonight: the Braintrust drafted a college shortstop with their first round pick.

What’s weird about that you ask?

The kid bats left-handed. Everybody knows that to be successful as a Yankee you need to bat righty, especially with that short porch in right.

What the hell are they thinking?

  8. Don't worry, Dick Allen!

Trey Sweeney also is known for a very high leg kick, and a swing "that makes a lot of noise."

I think we can all rest easy in the knowledge that he won't get any closer to the Bronx than the romance of the High A East league.

  9. Ode to Fans 7/11/2021, as The Cheater rounds the bases;

' And the poets down there
    Don't write nothing at all,
They just stand back and let it all be'
And in the quick of the night they reach for their moment, And try to make an honest stand, But they wind up wounded, not even dead,
    Tonight in Yankeeeeeland"

  10. He would not be the only Orthodox Jew to be drafted this year. Elie Klingman will be drafted but might attend college first. But all 4 major denominations of Judiasm is self-identified so very subjective. While Sandy Koufax and Hank Greenberg did not identify as Orthodox, they both refused to play on the Day of Atonement and so set them apart from the several hundred in baseball history including Rod Carew ;

  11. @ Dick Allen...a left-handed shortstop? That's rarer than unicorns!

  12. Carl, he’ll probably get shot in a bar fight and never get to the ratifies heights The Martian has already reached.

Draft picks are like girlfriends when you’re a teenager. The love crush can kill you.
