It’s really unfucking believable. You get another guy who HR or SO. I don’t care about prospects. Just get some baseball players, not MLB the Show characters
Gallo is very good. Strikes out a ton, but that's the game these days. I do think Cashman takes it to a crazy degree, but we desperately needed a left-handed power hitter and this guy has a great glove. Plus he's only 27. We didn't give up any top prospects. I think it's a good move.
This is a pure ROI move. They get Gallo, and make run at the wild card. Maybe they get in. Maybe they don’t. But he didn’t really cost them much and the added revenue that getting a sniff at extra game puts fannies in the seats. They get bounced after a game or two - unless it’s the twins - and voila - Harold pads the bottom line. The suckers...I mean fans...pony up to see those extra games and everybody goes home happy, even in the aftermath of another early exit and the seasonal rape of the farm system.
We were so close and we’ll come back next year for more of the same shit.
It’s the hope that keeps me coming back, even in the face of the annual reality. If nothing changes, nothing changes.

I've followed Kepler for the past few years. He's not having a good year but he's a very good lefty hitter and is ok in the field. Would be a solid acquisition

ReplyDeleteJohn King looks like he could help the bullpen.

Not sure how Gallo's .379 OBP helps. What's the point of having baserunners on this team?

Same as it ever was.
I was wondering who would be this year's Xavier Nady.

Joey! Joey! What made them want to throw you that pitch?
ReplyDeleteXavier Nady was a name I had happily forgotten.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leinstery, for nuthin'.
@bennyboy...totally agree

That WHIP should fit in nicely...
Yanks are also interested in Max Kepler...
