It is said that one cannot predict baseball. But we are all starting to have the ability to predict the Yankee bullpen.
So now that he's blown the save, wouldn't you have him finish the inning to at least limit the workload on the bullpen? I mean it's not like anyone will need to pitch the bottom of the ninth.
As to the question, "Is chad Green overworked?" I would say, "Yes." Allowing any reliever to give up 14 home runs is a reliever who has received entirely too much work.
Blame Hal, our Fire Witch. Thin starting pitching, a burnt bullpen in September. In the past fifty years, roughly 75% of our seasons spiral into oblivion for the same reason. The worst of it is that as fans we can't/won't believe that things will turn out differently. And oh so cruelly it unwinds in slow motion, in the Court of the Crimson King.
Real question. On that bloop single, when the ball finally hit the ground, Torres was already a couple feet from third base. Was that another base running fuck up that didn't matter in the end? I feel like that would have been a double play had the ball been caught.

Tyler Fucking Wade. How do you not love this kid? I think Gleybar looks a little tired. A good week's rest would help him. Play Wade every day. Bring Velasquez up while you're at it.
I guess Boone who have sat Gehrig's ass down and played Pipp. Would have figured Jeter needed another two years in the minors. That Stottlemyre kid? Needs more time in triple A. And why promote Mariano to closer if you can sign Wettland for another year?
ESPN, who I've come to loathe, actually has an article asking if the 1986 Mets were the best team of the past fifty years. Then behind a firewall, they name the top ten. Yeah controversy sells, but thirty-five years had to pass before such shameful Bullsht is bandied about. Who do you think they were praising in 1998? ESPN has become a disease in the business of sports journalism. Well Disney, owners of ESPN ruins everything they put their clutches into. I was third in line, first day when Star Wars debuted. Continued my fandom until the corpse of Carrie Fischer suddenly developed the ability to fly through a near vacuum, Mary Popping style. It's come down to the point where big business blatantly shows the Public how little they regard their Customers' intellect. "One of these days, Alice..."

Yeah, it was a complete baserunning fuckup that ended up benefiting the Yankees. As they say, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
