Lockout Theater: Gomer Pyle sings the classic

 It begins when the future husband of Rock Hudson loses his voice. It will end with you in tears. Don't bother with phony Yuletide carols or crapola. On Christmas Eve, play this, instead.

  1. Funny, characters getting laryngitis or amnesia was a constant plot point in shows from that era.

    Also, anybody who could sing, did. I remember Calamity Jane doing a contemporary number—"Lemon Tree"?—on F Troop, and the three women on Gilligan's Island doing one (probably the Professor had made speakers and electric guitars out of some coconuts).

    I think part of it was that they were really mystified by rock 'n' roll. I think they thought that if people could have hits with those songs and those outfits, hey, bring it on!
