  1. I'll go with 91 wins and third place in the division.

  2. I'm just relieved that four guys were more optimistic than I was.

  3. JM....I'm at the top of the list at 97. But since we read the blog every day, how can any daily observer here really be considered optimistic?

  4. By the way, where is Winnie?
I haven't seen him here in quite a while and no predictions.
    I hope he's okay.

  5. The NY press is saying that Judge will not sign today, so take off a few more wins for all the tedium of every city asking him about it when he goes there
. Plus, the Vegas guy in me says that Canada won't relent on vaccinations, so Yankees will not fare well there. I feel good about my prediction, esp. when Sevy is out by May.

  6. If there is tie between me and El Duque, will we have to have a duel?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Gotta love the PR masterclass by the Yankees, announcing two hours before gametime that they're not re-signing the only truly great player on the roster. We're becoming the Mets.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yes, sending a shout out to WINNIE> WE MISS YOU,,,,,, here's hoping you're doing OK and just bored with this team!

    ReplyDelete
  9. 80 painful and misleading wins and 82 excruciating losses.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I have been stoooopidly busy. And depressed. The world is dreadful now. Like the kind of dreadful that made all our parents trauma survivors and PTSD sufferers.

    ReplyDelete
  11. My father didn't go to Normandy in June '44 for a vacation, and yet there are still genocidal fascists destroying Europe. And in the US Senate. Appointing more fascists to the Supreme Court.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ken, I've missed you all too. I've been lurking. Know that when I am not speaking know that I am always always lurking.

    ReplyDelete
  13. $233M over 8 years is sort of paltry...

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hey Winnie...Glad to see you didn't succumb to any hospital germs.

    ReplyDelete
  15. They'll win 90 games and trade half their "A" prospects at the deadline to get there

    ReplyDelete
  16. Winnie, I absolutely ECHO your depression about the current state of affairs, I have also dropped off commenting as much but have continued to lurk, every day in fact,,,,, the horrors and atrocities that are being perpetrated abroad, more often than not, cannot find the words or brain space to chime in on baseball,,,,,,
BUT> I'm extremely grateful for ALL OF YOU who daily bring the comedy, insight and brilliant criticism that has profoundly buoyed me during these brutal times, and, that unites us all here at IIHIIFIIC!

    Bless You!

  17. Judge turned down $39MM per.

Trade that mother to Milwaukee. Or Pittsburgh. Or anywhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So no Judge extension…wasn’t his new contract the reason we passed on so many other players this off season?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Dick, you raise a reasonable question - if the team can’t/won’t Sidney Judge, shouldn’t he be traded?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Who needs Judge, Hicks and Stanton are here for the next 5 years. In fact I think they just gave Hicks a lifetime contract.

    ReplyDelete
  21. LOL, I meant sign Judge. Damn auto correct

    ReplyDelete

  22. We can finish fourth without him

    ReplyDelete

  23. They gave Hicks a lifetime BASEBALL contract - which, in Hicks case is only good for 50 games a year

    ReplyDelete
  24. Can I revise my 80 to a 79? We’re not going to win this one either.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well, Cole looks like he came to play

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cole getting hammered early...not the same w/o gorilla glue...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Watching Cole implode in the first inning. Can I amend my number DOWN?!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey, Cole already in late-season form!

Are they actually running a replay of the playoff game last year? Or has the season started?

    ReplyDelete
  29. RIZZO!

Izo good! Or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Agree about the state of the world, guys. And agree that this is one of the very best places to take cover from it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think Stanton basically makes up his mind about which number pitch to swing at back in the dugout.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The world has always been ugly and dangerous, humans easily vile. We seem to somehow think that we have evolved.

Ask 100-yr old vet about WWII,
    A 70-yr. old about Vietnam,
A 35 yr old about Iraq.

How about Bosnia or Central Africa.?

Seriously, just study history and realize how lucky most of us have been to have been born in the 1950's in America.
Most of us have simply dodged the historical bullet.

    On that happy thought,
    How About Those Yankees!!
Trade Judge to Pittsburgh and let him enjoy the anominity.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nice to see Gallo gettig off to a good start: Called out on strikes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Commentary of the year so far, regarding Falafel: "He doesn't hit a lot of home runs."

16 in 1,523 plate appearances? No, he does not.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Let's give HAL and the Brain some credit. Think about how hard they must have worked, coming up with a number they could be sure Judge would reject, but would still make it sound like they were serious.

Who says these guys don't earn their money?

    ReplyDelete
  36. NO SEE PO SOMETHING, YOU BIG HAMBURGER!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Maybe the way we should look at the Judge situation...the Yanks Jetered Judge...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Castro needs to get rid of that ugly Mets glove...

    ReplyDelete
  39. BTW, the report said that Judge wants 9 years...F that IMO...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh good. DJ ties it up. Now Chapman can blow the game. It's a Yankee/Red Sox Tradition.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'll go with 80 wins and second to last place.

As Judge's tenure with the team ticks down to zero, the demoralized character of the team will saturate the stadium, until the stadium is empty and everyone is going to Met games.

But we'll still have Randy Levine, Lonn Trost, Hal Steinbrenner, Brian Cashman and his dog, Aaron Boone.

    Not that anyone will care.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm late to the party. This year is really tough for me to call. I think they'll be bad but not below .500 bad. Most likely 5 games over, so 86 games.
