Why the Mariners must never be allowed to win: The team is replacing "Louie Louie" with Macklemore

A friend writes...

When we went on Friday night for Mariners home opener, and at 7th Inning Stretch "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" was not followed by "Louie, Louie" (as at every other Mariners game we've attended) but by Macklemore's "Can't Hold Us," I thought it was probably a one-time thing, since while his song played the video screen showed longtime M's fan Macklemore in attendance (and holding up his baby). But apparently the same Macklemore track was played in 7th Inning Stretch at the games on Saturday and Sunday, too, so this may be permanent... another sign we are headed to the apocalypse.

Alas, all horrors that humankind can imagine... are likely to come true.

  1. What if it's the beginning of a league wide 7th inning song change?

Think of it... No more Sweet Caroline!!!! Gotta be worth something.

  2. Typical MLB think. The same way they started playing headbanger music between innings, to bring "the kids" to Yankee Stadium. Didn't work. Just annoyed us alter cackers.

  3. Nobody's old enough to remember Louie Louie.
