By this time next week, 2023 will be here. Meanwhile, still sorting stems and seeds...
Stopped Clock Alert. Brian Cashman is absolutely right to nix Luis Severino pitching in the World Games. The last thing Setback Sevy needs is a series of high-stress outings in mid-March. Last year, he threw 102 innings. The two previous seasons: 18. Frankly, they should consider keeping him out of spring training. Every pitch is his Doomsday.
Good luck with this. The Redsocks' rotation could be 3/5 former YES faves. That's Garret "Rule 5" Whitlock, Cory "No Hit" Kluber and James "Big Elm" Paxton. It still hurts to think of Whitlock, who in 2020 we abandoned in favor of Albert Abreu. And we all know the Klube and the Pax can toss a decent five now and then. But thirtysomething gonads have a tendency to tweak. A half-season sounds about right.
So... Ohtani will stay an Angel, until he's not? Never has a superstar's future less mattered to Yank fans. Ohtani's impending free agency next winter means nothing to us. The Mets will get him. Or the Padres. Or the Dodgers. Or maybe the Giants or Cubs. We won't. We haven't the farm system to trade for Ohtani. And Homeless Hal will pull out his pockets in a show of poverty. If Ohtani ever goes out for bids, it will be Bryce Harper/Manny Machado redux.
Ah, the eternal hope of Yank fans. Maybe they never stop asking questions.
So Ohtani was supposedly miffed that Judge got the MVP. Thinks he has something to prove. That's what his manager said, anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of hearing about him. There's a showboat lurking under that Mr. Nice Guy image. Maybe the Red Sox can sign him and he can watch his pitches bounce off the Green Monster.
ReplyDeleteStanton blocks Ohtani
The Yankees are more likely to trade prospects for Sadaharu Oh, than Ohtani. Oh would be cheaper to pay and he fits the age demographic too.
ReplyDeleteYanks are more likely to trade for Trout...
ReplyDelete@ ranger....the only Trout the Yankees will ever have in Yankee Stadium is Brian Cashman's trouser trout.
ReplyDeleteI doubt the Mets have a chance to land Ohtani because he doesn't want to play in NY.
ReplyDeleteMy money is on SF or Seattle because of a large and engaged Asian population. There are almost as many Asians in SF as there are white people. In Seattle, Asians comprise the largest non-white people ethnicity.
Fuck the Red Sox. With our pitching cast off apparently.
