Deflating. More so as called by Shackil. He'd be fine as Royals or Rockies radio guy. That's whete he belongs. But this is the NY Yankees, and Rickie's in the goddamn building. Friend of the blog EBD doesn't strike me as someone with the patience or imagination to enjoy a baseball radio broadcast, but the best evidence for the theory that Yankees, Inc has, shall we say, underachieved in the promotion of employees of color is its insistence on Shackil over Rickie as The Master's heir apparent. In either language, Rickie calls a more entertaining game. It's not even close.
Their was a story that I read that said Nettles kicked Reggie's ass at a celebration party. I believe that it was in Sparky's book. Anyone recall the event?
Well, Small Game came through for a change. But this is the second series in a row in which one more hit would've enabled the Yanks to really put a dagger in a major division contender.
The truth is that this NYY team just doesn't have that in them.
They used to be a team ALMOST able to make the World Series. Now, increasingly, they are ALMOST able to compete. Soon they will ALMOST be respectable.

ReplyDeleteCliff Johnson.
ReplyDeleteI just pulled the picture because I forgot that his most famous fight was in the Yankee locker room and he hurt Goose Gossage.
ReplyDeleteSo that would be bad luck.

ReplyDeleteVolpe is the most Asian looking Italian I’ve ever seen.
That took about two seconds to google… his mom is Filipino. So the race thing we can put the bed.
