Game Thread: It's 1966 all over again!

You remember 1966... Both teams were bad.

According to EBay this was a program from the Mayor's Trophy Game from that year.

  1. Mets should take tonight’s game easily

  2. I would tend to agree. That said the Stanton HR was quite unexpected. Apparently he like to hit here. Maybe we can work out a trade.

  3. They will split the two games…

  4. Well, there goes that lead.
    Nick Ramirez time?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Not if he keeps pitching like this

  6. If the Mets weren’t the Mets this game would be 10-0

  7. It is 1am here I refuse to watch this shower of no mark bums anymore I start work at 7am and unlikne then I burst a gut every single day at my job so I need to be rested and focused, Oh and if Sevy is not announced as going for an MRI and found to need Tommy John surgery I will eat my bunnett. Good night friends and I wish you well and great bravery if you sit throiugh the rest of this farcial team trying to come back to win this game

  8. Torres really busted it down the line there

  9. I’d wear that cap, Scottish Fan.

  10. Feb 27 1968: Johnson lost Cronkite.

June 13 2023: Volpe lost Sterling.

After Suzyn’s rationalization and excusification , John says “that’s all true but… Have you ever heard of a regular batting .183?”

I’m ready for Volpe to un-skip AAA

IF IT HAPPENS THIS ALSO MEANS HE’S NO LONGER WHITE (even though his been half Phillipino all along… it’s all perception)

  11. Wow! I'll be back at some point. They really suck.

  12. Torres with another error. JFC.

  13. RizzO was concussed after that collision - DJ - thank you for your service

  14. Golly - Sure hope Doug comes back - it suddenly got exciting

  15. Just checked Draft Kings… Scherzer exiting before Sevy paid $1,000,000 to $1

  16. Torres better get some hits or his WAR card will be revoked

  17. Higgy is hitting.360 with RISP.

    ReplyDelete
  18. He’s not. I swear he’s half Phillipino. Google it for EBD when they get off shift at 7-11.

  19. My bad. Figured Dominos required a drivers license, but maybe it’s tricycle delivery.

  20. I might be a jinx today so in the interest of the team. I'm going away again

  21. Pronouns :) I really don’t have a problem with gender fluid, as long as it doesn’t stain the sheets.

  22. Godspeed Doug - watch out for full Haikus

    ReplyDelete
  23. Donaldson for Bauers??? Are you fucking kidding me?

Boone is such an idiot. Incredible.

  24. One good thing about these games -- I can watch on channel 11 and avoid Kay and O'Neill. Hernandez and Darling are at least not grating.

  25. I wish I could sync the Master, but it is too aggravating with a network feed.

  26. Television ruins the point of baseball radio anyway. The whole point is to mostly ignore the game while doing something else entirely. Tonight I got six greasy nasty stripped bolts unstuck on the ol’ jalopy. My gloves got stickier than Drew Smiths.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This stickiness stuff seems really subjective.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Speaking of Lester Hayes, Wandy is not wanderfull tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Holmes bailed him out. Thankfully.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It was hard, but he did it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Before I forget, Eric Cressey needs to get fired…

    ReplyDelete
  32. This ump is very kind to pitchers.

Oz fucked up there. Nice to see Robertson again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Who's this reliever for the mutts? He looks familiar.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Be careful with Holmes spitball… actually gender fluid.

    ReplyDelete
  35. A great game. But John did not say “the best win of the year”. It was good. Really good.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Severino, is he hurt? Pray that we let him go when the season is over.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I apologize but I’ve been vacuuming the Haikus and missed the past hour. Roofy - help me to understand - what does Hal suck exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Apparently my pre-game analysis was a bit…premature.🤔

  39. Damn, I miss all the best games! And best threads!

  40. Half white, with two physicians for parents and raised in the New Jersey suburbs is just fine for the Yankees--Jeter and Judge are light-skinned and biracial, for example, and so pass muster easily in the gated-community mafia. Latino is less desirable but acceptable if no other alternatives are available, but coal black like Florial is out of the question except in an emergency. Of course it's scarcely surprising to have to elucidate these fine points of racial prejudice to an asshole who proudly flaunts the name of a Confederate defender of enslavement of blacks on the public blog. Oh--that would be you, "Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside." In a blog full of ignorant right-wing assholes, you win the palm.

Really--this blog is one of the most reactionary, MAGA-steeped pits of cluelessness on the Internet. Oh yes--I'm sure duque and stang would try to brandish their official White Liberal credentials, but their ardor for a less-competent Italian over a far-more-competent Latino tells the true tale, as it does for everyone else in this racist purgatory of complacent, callous old white guys.

  41. Below Average -- why don't you find a new hobby or obsession that has nothing to do with me? You keep mentioning my name, even on threads where I haven't previously participated. I'm flattered, but also kind of creeped out. I mean really--you don't give a shit about racism, you post these embarrassingly witless haikus, and imagine yourself to be some sort of erudite boulevardier, when in reality you're just another obsessional loser tethered to a computer screen. Perhaps you can find a purpose in life other than fixating on a corporate brand like millions of other low-IQ "fans." After all, there's something going on here, but you don't know what it is, do you Mr. Jones?

  42. Excellent EBD - you took the bait - I'm impressed with your responses. Nicely done. You are a sharp individual that is a dedicated Yankee fan. I salute you. I have achieved my goal. I wish you the best. Are YOU going to the game in August?

  45. Below Average -- now you try to save face by changing the spelling from "bate" to "bait" after I corrected you. Nice try, but too late. Now everyone on the blog knows that you have the spelling and literacy skills of an eight-year-old. Too bad. You lose!

  46. P.S., Alexander Hamilton was White, but he has been culturally appropriated by Spanish who fill Broadway every night to see him.
    What a travesty EBD.
Next thing you know, these racists will make Hans Christian Andersen's characters Black!
    [Insert trigger here.]

  47. I was going to post something about how much Sevy has sucked over the last few starts, if not the last few years, but him being a very dark-skinned Black of Spanish origin was probably what inspired my disdain, so I will refrain from mentioning his inability to pitch.
I hope that they sign him to a multi-year K for 18M a year after this season.
Rodon, the Spaniard, needs a fellow traveler. As does Peralta and Lasagna when he returns.
Now I also realize that I loved Rivera only because I could pretend that his light complexion meant that he was not really a minority or perhaps to masquerade my deep racial animus (?)from the world.

EBD has certainly opened my eyes.

  48. EBD, that was nice work picking my "Ballad of a Thin Man" reference that I laid on you some days ago, and flinging it back! Nice catch.
