8:20, Amazon Prime. Helping the Jasson Dominguez hype, Doug K. last night posted my three favorite Martian things: The Martian Manhunter, Mars Bars, and
Mars Attacks. With game time speeding toward us, I seek to raise the Yankee delirium to Mitch McConnell-levels and beyond with a gluttonous orgy of
Mars Attacks—all 54 cards!
Stang - GREAT images! I remember that set. My cousin was a little older and totally into all of those collections. Plus Eerie and Creepy.
ReplyDeleteI was more of a Kennedy Cards. James Bond Cards and Man from U.N.C.L.E card plus Mad magazine kind of guy. But you just brought me way back.
I remember the Bond & U.N.C.L.E. cards. And the painted Batman cards, which were wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYes. I loved those as well. I still have the Bond and U.N.C.L.E card sets.
ReplyDeleteBTW from the NY Post
"It marks just the second time in the last 54 years that the Yankees have five players 24 or younger start the same game.
The last time came in 1984 with a lineup that included Don Mattingly (23), Scott Bradley (24), Rex Huddler (24), Bob Meachem (24) and Mike Pagliarulo (24)."
I'd take that return.
Fuckin A - The Martian!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI’d rather have Fraunchy than the Martian
ReplyDeleteWelcome to The Show, Jasson!
ReplyDeleteMartian!
ReplyDeleteOh my word ….
ReplyDeleteTHE CHASE FOR THE WILDCARD IS BACK ON, BABY!!!
(ok, that’s not true, but it was a nice moment)
I’m in a restaurant right now… did John have a call for Jasson?
ReplyDeleteThe Master isn’t doing the game tonight ….
ReplyDeleteWhich is a damn shame.
THE UHUHUHUHUH-uhuhuh-UHUH MARTIAN!!?!??!
ReplyDeleteA HR a single and Altuve is out of the game. Not saying we will win but at least I'm not filled with hate.
ReplyDeleteI love the Yankees now.
ReplyDeleteMy Baseball people tell this kid could be pretty good 😀
ReplyDeleteAll these Bobby Murcer references on the broadcast are a nice bonus.
ReplyDelete…and congrats to Wells. He doesn’t need to be great, just decent, and a credible source of LH power
ReplyDeleteVerlander's location is terrible. Everything in the middle of the plate.
ReplyDeleteRodman at 72 pitches may very well cough this game up
ReplyDeleteRodin Rodon Rodman whatever
ReplyDeleteMy complete, original set of 66 Batman cards are pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteLoved the art as a child.
Batman’s costume design was the best.
The only thing missing was a porn stache
And Rodon's location has sucked too. 72 pitches through 3. We're gonna be here all night.
ReplyDeleteDickAllen! We missed you at the game! Unless you were there and I didn't notice!
ReplyDeleteLook at that: a competent left fielder.
ReplyDeleteRodon throws a one two three 14-pitch inning!?
ReplyDeleteAnd there was much rejoicing. Yayy.
Judge hit that off the train!
ReplyDeleteHis era is below 6. Thank yahweh the signed him.
ReplyDeleteIs Brett Gardner in the dugout? Thought I saw him talking to Judge.
ReplyDeleteWin, I live in Los Angeles
ReplyDeleteAnd I’m deathly afraid of heights
ReplyDeleteHinkey,
ReplyDeleteGardener would be better than a *lot* of this jamkolkes.
Are the Asstros wearing a patch promoting Oxycodone?
ReplyDeleteHrrmm ... none of the kids struck out. Who taught them to do that?
ReplyDeleteYankees win…
ReplyDeleteIt’s a miracle Win
ReplyDeleteFrom YGY, it appears The Martian put a hurt in’ on that ball

ReplyDeleteWow. So sorry I missed it. But love those Mars cards, despite (or especially because of) their obsession with setting people on fire. They knew how to give kids what they wanted in those days.
Me, besides baseball cards, of course, I mainly collected Planet of the Apes cards. Loved those damned, dirty apes.
I picked the wrong day to be in Germany.
ReplyDeleteIn my experience it's usually the wrong day to be in Germany. I mean, it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live here.

ReplyDeleteHC, too funny, and you certainly nailed it with your assessment of the lads of that era. It warmed my heart when the movie came out. Funny thing (well I was quite young), I don't have a clear memory of the cards, and yet when I saw them they were SO familiar. Probably my sicko cousins, seven to ten years older than me.
