That was a big Yankee victory.

  1. Juan Soto paying big dividends already! May it be the first of many, many more.

  2. It was a big Yankee victory.

One game, etc., but after the turd Cortes laid they could have rolled over and died. I like Soto, patient hitter, could be a 1998 Yankee. Vertigo too - that sacrifice fly was big, didn't try to do too much, just get the run in like you're supposed to. Volpe showed tough at-bats, nice level swing.

  6. As I commented on the last post: Had to be out and about today, but just watching this on the replay. Like two different games.

What does it all mean? I dunno. A better effort by Nestor than it looked like it would be...and yet, 4 ER in 5 IP? Hmm.

Bullpen looking...okay. We'll see how long that lasts. The "little guys" did well, and Rizzo seems like he's back.

On the other hand...Stanton looks as bad as ever. Anyone else notice, too, as he slowed down going into first on his 7th-inning groundout? I wonder if he'll last the season.

But hey: a win is a win, and a win against Houston in Houston is sweeter than most. No more complaints—we have the whole season for those!

  7. I am in the process of driving back to NY from Sacramento and I was delighted that I could use an app to listen to the game. My only concern was that I would lose the signal while crossing the Sierras.

I was barely up the foothills when my concern switched to, "I hope I lose the signal because this is just horrible."

As it turned out the signal stayed on and it was a great game.

One question: HOW THE FUCK IS STANTON BATTING CLEANUP????

That aside, they really showed grit and Soto was a pleasure. Oswaldo and Volpe new approach put him on base 4/5 times.

I'm in Utah now and so tired that I just brushed my teeth with A&D ointment.

  9. Doug,

I do not envy your cross country adventures for many reasons.

Now everyone should just settle down. Enjoy the moment and wait for the worst. And I don't mean wurst.
