David Ortiz certainly deserves the highest honors that our revered state legislature can bestow. He has, after all, cheated his way into the upstate Hall of Fame, where baseball was NOT invented.
He has, so far as we know, only been shot once, by a mysterious assailant, for reasons still unknown.
He maintains a jolly disposition, and therefore deserves all the kudos heaped upon him, as opposed to the fates of more surly and unpleasant cheaters.
If we're going to have an infielder who only hits one home run, how about a guy who hits, period?
Infielder Caleb Durbin is riding a 17-game on-base streak (since April 24 at Durham), during which he is batting .328/.442/.453 (21-for-64) with five doubles, one homer, 12 RBIs and seven steals. Durbin leads the RailRiders in runs (28), hits (42), doubles (13), RBIs (28), walks (27) and steals (17).
This is the most tone-deaf political move since Rudy Giuliani announced he would root for the Redsocks in the 2004 World Series, because they represented the AL East.

Saw that! Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteI would not have thought that the New York State Legislature could sink any lower. Turns out I was wrong.
Also, someone has a spokesperson named "Rusking Pimentel"? Are we sure this isn't just a big fraud?
ReplyDeleteBut I kid, I kid!

And who do we bump for Beeter? He deserves a chance after they finish "stretching him out" to be a starter...with no place to put another starter.
ReplyDeleteMaybe start him in the pen and jettison Santana and Ferguson?
Naaaahhh. Too easy.
Question, did they honor all of the PEDs that Big Slop took?
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the Senate should have mooned him...
ReplyDeleteWhat's next? Pro-Hamas rallies on Ivy League campuses?

ReplyDeleteThat had to be from The Onion or similar right? There is no way that the NYS legislature did that.
ReplyDeleteAs Hoss' pointed out Rusking Pimentel? What kind of name is that? What was he Named after Dean Rusk? Was Dirksen Avocado not working that day?
