Trying to hide from the ugly truth. It's one of the may things wrong with modern ball. The Brewers dominated the NL Central all season but then are forced into a three game playoff for the wildcard. How can a marathon season (162) be decided by the best of three crap-shoot? Mets benefited from a very flawed system. Good for them, I guess, but still BS.
He's got his moments. Too bad he has such crap legs. I'm just compelled to point out that he's not anywhere near as bad as he's made out to be. It's the Libra in me. Looking for balance.
I had to watch TV rather than listen to Sterling. So I was stuck with Bob Costas’ call after the final out: “And that’s that.” Followed by about 8 seconds of silence. Not sure if I’ve ever heard a more anticlimactic call ending a close playoff game.
I feel like Judge looked better tonight. Got a walk and a bunch of hard hit balls. I pray he comes out of this funk and carries us the rest of the way.
As someone who knocks Stanton- I must give him big props for this game tonight. Only 4 hits tonight, and he had 3 of them. We don’t win without him . A stolen base too? .
You know, I think that Cabrera is becoming an unsung player who is going to get better. He always looks switched on, and frequently those types of players go on to have surprising career. Hell, he might just be destined to replace the mud shark in our mythology....

We're willfully squandering tremendous talent. We're Arthur Rimbaud.

ReplyDeleteSometimes double plays are greatly appreciated
ReplyDeleteJudge with warning track power.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the Mets look ready to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteGod damn these at bats
ReplyDeleteStan. ton
ReplyDeleteThat worthless Stanton guy again.
ReplyDeleteHey JM …. Me thinks Stanton is worth quite a lot.
DeleteMe too
DeleteLifeless and joyless. Yanks play like we have cinder blocks on their feet.

ReplyDeleteMets go to the NLCS.

DeleteJudge remains the non-hero.
ReplyDeleteJust a tick off.
ReplyDeleteBut I just got my lighter up in the air.
ReplyDeleteJudge is starting to come out of it but the Yankees may not have enough games left for it to matter
ReplyDeleteFill in the blank: Volpe is ________
ReplyDeleteGolden Boy my ass. Volpe stinks
ReplyDeletethat run's on Volpe
ReplyDeleteFucking Holmes. For the love of fucking G-d. Oh and Soto can't field.
ReplyDeleteAnd here comes Boooooone, Too batters too late
ReplyDeleteWe are Hemingway
ReplyDeleteWe are toast!
ReplyDeleteClay Holmes is STILL pitching
ReplyDeleteGod
DeleteSoto hasn't learned not to let the ball get by him. Takes too many low odds chances.
ReplyDeleteHolmes... Jesus Christ.
Wooooot
Delete2/3 of mlb starting RFers make that catch, I think. The ball hung up. Bad jump, bad route.
ReplyDeleteMaybe higher percentage. That was a bad play.
ReplyDeleteFuture $50 million a year guy can't play defense.
DeleteStantun
ReplyDeleteGiancarlo Rortvedt
ReplyDeleteHe can only score if someone hits a HR
ReplyDeleteWay to watch it right down the middle, Jazz.
ReplyDeleteStanton stole a base!!! Holy cow!
ReplyDeleteWho would have guessed it?
DeleteNobody. That's how he did it.
DeleteVerdugo feathers it to second
DeleteCrap.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else see the news reports right after Stanton stole second? Apparently pigs were seen flying over Iowa.
ReplyDeleteAs always, no clutch hitting.
ReplyDeleteYanks record since June is 54 wins and 49 losses, that's a winning percentage of 52%. And yet I'm always surprised how mediocre we are.
ReplyDeleteWow....4-0 Rangers, second period opening night in Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else see the news reports after Verdugo grounded out to second? Apparently pigs are no longer flying.
ReplyDelete2-1 odds, no clutch RBI from Judge.
ReplyDeleteJudge winces when he’s not going well
ReplyDeleteI won.. pay up!

ReplyDeleteDick………
DeleteThat wuz funny
I was watching Slow Horses. But rewound the game. That worthless Stanton again.
DeleteStanton!!
ReplyDeleteForget Soto. Just offer Stanton a 5-year extension.
ReplyDeleteSix outs to go!
ReplyDeleteWhy pull Kahnle now? He’s cruising.
ReplyDeleteWho cares if he is doing well? The computer says he's got to go! Boone is a robot.
DeleteI do not like this five-out save business
ReplyDeleteSorry, was having dinner with the missus.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear that Glassman has a stolen base?
A FUCKING STOLEN BASE?
Fake news!
I have to go take a nap now...
Not only that, but he’s doubled and homered. Apparently our hitting coach finally discovered what was wrong with his swing.
ReplyDeleteso, they finally gave Giancarlo the Adderall enema he's been requesting
ReplyDelete2 litre dose
DeleteShould have left Kahnle in. Boone is nuts.
ReplyDeleteStupid, incompetent.... not sure about nuts, but could be.
DeleteHow about we sign Soto, keep Stanton, and trade Judge to the NL?
ReplyDeleteJM, you must be in heaven: your boy is the star of the game tonight. For once in his life.
ReplyDeleteHe's got his moments. Too bad he has such crap legs.

9 walks, & only manage 3 runs. Kind of pathetic.
ReplyDeleteThe YANKEES WIN.
ReplyDeleteYankees Win!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Yankees WINNNNNN!
ReplyDeleteThuuuuuuuuh Yankees win!
ReplyDeleteand a nice warble too
ReplyDeleteOr as the Master said it…..the Yankees mmmwin!

I'm that kinda guy. You're on your own.
Whew!
ReplyDeleteWe happy?
ReplyDeleteHappy enough for now.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Judge looked better tonight. Got a walk and a bunch of hard hit balls. I pray he comes out of this funk and carries us the rest of the way.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice.
DeleteThe team being up without THE JUDGE.... A good omen?
ReplyDeleteWe play tomorrow, we win tomorrow... Right?
ReplyDeleteIn theory. But I've never set foot in that town.
DeleteAs someone who knocks Stanton- I must give him big props for this game tonight. Only 4 hits tonight, and he had 3 of them. We don’t win without him . A stolen base too? .
ReplyDeleteAnd again…DreeeeamWeeeeaver !
Yeah, finally a game he doesn't absolutely suck.
DeleteI still don't think that was a $100M performance by the Glassman.
Nine more and I might be convinced.
Stanton. Damn.
ReplyDeleteSchmidt looked good, better than the two princesses for sure.
We'll see the crown princess tomorrow.
DeleteLet's hope he doesn't have a hissy fit.
Wait. A stolen base. I don't believe it. I saw it, and I still don't believe it.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteWell fuck me.
ReplyDeleteThis thread never appeared on my work desktop no matter how many times I refreshed.
ReplyDeleteAnd that stolen base did not happen. Let the anti-conspiracy people prove me wrong.
