    I have never thought about this in just this way ... because it's crazy. But maybe just crazy enough to work?

    Except it's the Yankees, so it'll never work.

    Maybe opposing pitchers would have difficulty with an alternately huge / tiny strike zone. It would be worth trying! Certainly better than whatever system they otherwise use to set the lineup...
