  3. I mean...sure. If they'd signed him when they should have, they might well have made the playoffs in 2023, and maybe (though unlikely), he would've put them over the top this year. But it's such a marginal improvement.

    Well, hey. His father wasn't much of a player, but that great catch he made in the 2000 World Series prevented a humiliating meltdown by Mariano to the Mets, so there's that.

  5. He plays center field and first base. They need both. If he hits ok and plays good defense, it's a good deal. Maybe we can field a team with halfway decent fielding and baserunning so we don't get embarrassed. Move Chisholm to second, sign Walker, and get Gio for third base. Then we'd finally have a good defense, except for hands of stone (Dominguez) in left
