My approach to tipping is -- will the extra $5, $10, $50 mean more to this person than me? All yours, kind sir or madam! Thanks for making my day more enjoyable.
People that forget the "little people" are the littlest people in existence. Be nice to people and life will treat you better.
Millionaires that want an extra 0.0002 percent of their salary as a bonus by not giving the parking attendant a $50,000 bonus -- the guy that could make his entire family happy by taking them to wallyworld or replace his 1982 datsun -- are just scum.
Roofious - Jealousy can often be painful - I'm a generous tipper (except when the situation absolutely does not deserve it) - - - a friend of a friend had Rickey as a landlord in Oakland. Never an issue - always on top of things PLUS three years ago I sat across the aisle from him on NY to SF flight. My mind was like "ITS RICKEY!!!" Then I lost myself in a moovie . . .
I patterned my softball game after Ricky. Bursting speed on the field. Slow-ass walking off of it. I'm slower now, but I still slow-ass walk off the field.
Now I have another good reason to celebrate Ricky's life. He never forgot those who had less.

Great story, Stang. There are two kinds of people - generous ones and everybody else. Oh yeah, and then there's Hal...

I used to like Rickey, but now I really do.
Still jealous of AA.
sorry
DeleteDon't be. Be proud.
Delete...unless you were referring to your tipping habits
I feel the same way, Rufus. And btw, good to see you. It's been awhile.

DeleteJM, for the shout out. The earth shattering moves by the Yankees are not really inspiring me. I think you'll understand.
DeleteGreat story. Great ballplayer. And apparently great person.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least Piazza had the guts to spill that story. There's hope for him yet.
