All snark aside, he is among the worst field managers in the game. He gaslights the media on a nearly daily basis. His primary responsibility is to carry water for ownership, secondary is to coddle his players, never seeking accountability.in any way, shape, or form.
A perfect manager for an owner who seems to hate baseball.
Scotland, I'd say he's a bad manager tactically...but often that doesn't matter so much in baseball. Joe Torre, for instance, was not a great field manager, but vital at fending off Mad George Steinbrenner and keeping the clubhouse functioning well.
Boone seems like an okay clubhouse guy. But yeah, for the most part he's just covering up for bad GM and ownership decisions...
...For me, the worst of Boone last year came in the fateful fifth inning of Game 5, after the horrible meltdown had left the Yankees...still up by 5-1. He desperately needed to go out to the mound and restore order, tell a filthy joke, do something to calm everybody down. He didn't. I would can him for that alone...
Boone: “hey Rizzo, how’s your cabeza?” Rizzo: “feels like scramble eggs, Skip.” Boone: “That’s great! I love eggs! You’re batting cleanup! We’re gonna win the super bowl!”
The following information has been not yet been made public so in order to help insure accuracy - I kinda pulled it outta the backside of an angry hamster . . .
Boone's Deal:
2 Years @ 9.5 Million - 4.25 per year
As part of his signing bonus package the Yankees have granted Boone a personal clubhouse assistant whose responsibilities include pre-chewing the re-signed Skipper's bubble gum.
This practice, commonly referred to as "premastication", is being implemented to help preserve the enamel levels of Boone's teeth.
No word yet on whether the newly extended Yankees manager will also task his assistant with pre-shelling his seeds, but I'm sure that this other exciting news about the signing will soon be shared with us by Meredith Marakovits.
Time to shake one's head and get dizzy with a headache. Someone please reply. Is it that Hal is clueless or some other unforseen reason which I do not get, that the Buffoon Manager was extended? After the move that Buffoon Boone made in game one of the World Series, should have been anough to end his career. My head hurts!

ReplyDeleteI would like to know from the good folks on here exactly how they rate Boone as a manager
I do not know enough about the game to comment about this
Where would you say he rates compared to the other managers in the league is he in the top or bottom ten?

DeleteInstead, he'll get a chance to extend his record as Yankees manager for the most seasons without winning a World Series. O joy.
DeleteFirst Trump is elected President and now Boone is extended. This world is coming to a fucking end.

DeleteThat is the impression I get
I feel he is good with the players generally and the media but not so much on tactics
The quintessential "vibes" coach 😒
DeleteHe's one of the best babysitters in MLB. In the off-season, he has a profile on care.com for potential jobs...lol...

Delete"Boone, when a reporter pointed out to him that 4.25 x 2 doesn't add up to 9.5 replied, "It doesn't?"
DeleteLet's celebrate! Break out the cyanide, boys!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking you'd likely not want to employ a premasticater for that cyanide
