This is where we get exposed.

I guess one little team like ours doesn't amount to a hill of beans as the world financial markets tumble around us.

But just to say: here is where the Yanks get exposed.

Three games in the cold, in a pitcher's park, against three big, young hurlers.

The Tigers are starting one Casey Mize (1-0 this year, with 5 2/3 scoreless innings; barely pitched since 2021, so he will be a mystery to us), the Great Skubal (Good Lord), and Jack Flaherty, the guy who pretty much shut us down in one World Series start last year, but not so much the other.

Which gives us a chance, as we are starting Fried against Flaherty.

But for the other two starts...Los Dos Carlos. Uh-oh.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

The rest of the AL might not seem like much now, but they understand what Brian Cashman does not: you rebuild a team around pitching.

Oh, and expect at least two dingers from The Gleyber.

  2. I was with you until that last sentence. Not The Gleyber…I’ll suffer any indignity but The Gleyber doing a home run trot not once, but TWICED!

    1. Do you have emergency numbers clearly posted nearby for when Gleyber hits his third....?

  3. Gleyber isn't playing. I believe he's hurt. Or he believes he's hurt. Either way. No Gleyber Day today.

  4. Now that Gleyber is playing for former cheat-stro A.J. Hinch, I certainly expect him to get his act together. Though I heard that he's not off to a good start. Haven't checked, don't particularly care, just what I heard.

  5. Small sample size so far, obviously, but Yanks get shut down whenever they run into a good pitcher, or even a lousy pitcher who has a good day. Yesterday was a bad loss. Gotta move that ghost runner and get him in, by hook or by crook.

    1. Tough to do when almost every hitter is digging in and swinging for the fences, or in Chisolm’s case, just swinging at anything.

    1. What? Huh? We all say
But we know the real score
      Cash and Boone both suck

  7. Why did Cashman send Headrick to Scranton and re-sign Ottavino? He's already been in 4 games. He has given up no runs and one hit while striking out nine in 5⅓ innings.

  8. Carl, it's part of our long-established policy to completely discourage any and all young players. In fact, I believe the famous Stadium signs with quotes from Joe DiMaggio and Douglas MacArthur have been replaced with one saying, "Abandon all hope of entering here."

  9. The Gleyber is actually hitting .429, with a home run, a stolen base, and a 1.357 OPS. Zowee! Unfortunately, he has only played 2 games and amassed 7 at-bats.

I think maybe he's trying to keep those numbers so fine.
