Music to our ears

“I haven’t accomplished anything,” Cashman said Wednesday.

  1. Ceremonial, perfunctory chest beating, much ado about nothing, lots of smoke, no fire. He's saying what he's supposed to say, shit like "Only a World Series matters," but he doesn't mean it. In fact, he probably learned the phrase from Jeter, who DID mean it.

  2. I like to dream yes, yes, right between old Randy Levine
On a pile of money I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near, there's a trade not far from here.

Well, you don't know what we can find
Why don't you come with me little Hal
    On a magic dumpster dive.
You don't know what I can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me
    Fantasy will set you free
    Close your eyes Hal
    Look inside Hal
Let the lies take you away

  3. Was Cashman talking about his entire Yankees career?

  4. He has accomplished raising the wrath of my anger and has this Scotman 3000 miles away permanently in a bad mood when he thinks of the Yankees

  5. Existential Cash, deep into middle age. Staring into the abyss. His whole adult life, doing this? Almost feel sorry for him.

  7. I was briefly debating changing it to "I like to dream, right behind old Randy Levine," but then I decided to leave the element of mystery and uncertainty associated with an incorrect preposition, kind of an homage to the shadowland that we now inhabit as Yankee fans. More in my next TED talk...
