I'm tired of all these old bridges and tunnels being renamed after hack politicians who did nothing to create them. The worst - for me, at least - has been the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel - a pretty much perfect name in terms of accuracy and the way it sounds - to the "Hugh L. Carey Tunnel." No offense to Hugh or his descendants, but fuck off. It's the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Same with the Tappan Zee. Same with the Queensborough/59th Street Bridge, same with the Triboro Bridge. And I don't like how they turned the glorious Yankee Stadium into "Asshole Acres." Oh, fuck, I spoke too soon.
