Two days ago, we asked you to pray that A-Rod's injury wasn't serious. You did, and he played 3B in the very next game.
Earlier that day, we prayed for a second win in a row, and that Edwar Ramirez would get a chance to prove himself as a Yankee. Both prayers were answered.
Today, we changed the subject.
And the Yankees lost.
Andy Pettite said, “The most important thing in my life isn’t baseball. I was born with a gift-I was pretty good at throwing a baseball. Eventually, I was even fortunate enough to perform at the top of my sport. But as satisfying as that has been, the greatest gift in my life has been my personal relationship with God.”
Can we get back to that, please? For the Yankees' sake?
God did not cost us today's game.

ReplyDeleteYou go asking him to fix a sporting event, and it's like asking Bill Gates to give you a back rub: He'll say, "Screw you."
Nobody likes telemarketers. Do you think God does? He's in the middle of dinner, having a glass with Mrs. God, and the Prayer Phone rings, and do you think he is going to say, "Yes, I'll buy 10 games for the Yankees, forcing other teams to suffer, because you called me right now and ruined my shot at a decent night off." Do you think Mrs. God will let up on him, when he answers the phone in the middle of her rant about the price of gasoline.
Ease up on God. You might end up costing us ballgames.

ReplyDeleteFrankly, you couldn't expect God to be taking prayers on the Fourth of July. Give the Guy a break, for Chrissake.
ReplyDeleteIs it reasonable to think that God would be only a Yankee fan? Are there facts and evidence to support a talking snake?
ReplyDeleteEveryone should be a Yankee admirer, of course. However, If we are to pray for Yankee wins, is that reasonable?
I would rather pray for the talking snake to return. If it had an "outing", for example,in Times Square, and the naked cowboy attended, perhaps we could return the country to the dignity and comportment to which our forefathers commended us.
Then, the Yankees would win again and the Red Sox would be committed.
It's refreshing that we can have an honest theological discussion of the quality seldom found on other Yankee websites.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fair to say that God has favored the Yankees thus far. He has given the team great players and the money required to build more championships.
We must always be thankful for the blessings He has bestowed on us, even when they bat .117 and cannot throw runners out at secondbase. It is all part of the plan.

ReplyDeleteAll I know is, we prayed on the blog for the Yankees to win and THE YANKEES WON. At this late date, it's a little silly to be arguing over "whether" God wants the Yankees to win.
