Mariner Announcer Wins Frick Award

Dave Niehaus, whose calls of Mariners games are seared into the national consciousness, has won the Frick Award.

That’s a fabulous Frick award for an announcer. The Frick Award. In fact, the Frick Award is THE FRICKIN' FRICK AWARD for frickin' announcers. The Frick Award.

  1. You leave Dave Niehaus alone. He's the only broadcaster left who's old-school enough to enjoy a cocktail in the booth. Not that he'd ever admit it.

Seattle has the best one-two punch in the broadcasting world. After Dave has to "rest his eyes" we get a postgame radio show (home stands only) hosted by none other than the great Boston groundskeeper-fightin' Yankee Jeff Nelson. And where does Nellie broadcast from? That's right. A bar.

  4. Isn't Seattle, like, part of Canada?
