Stunner: Jacoby Ellsbury Shut Out at Grammys

Hard to believe that the American Music Industry, or Cabal, or whatever the hell it claims to be, (aside from what it is: a ratpack of greedy Britney enablers), would rate spiney dope fiend Amy Winehouse over the great Jacoby Ellsbury as Top Rookie Superstar.

When will "Rook 'n Roll" 'Coby finally get some love?

Don’t the "artists" realize that Ellsbury clubbed two long home runs last year and batted .298 for Pawtucket -- at just age 24! (Barely a year older than Melky Cabrera.)

Try that, Amy Winehouse.

  2. What do you have against Jacoby? Yes, I'm a Red Sox fan, and I found your blog sort of by accident, but why are you so prejudiced against him (and Red Sox fans in general?). Yeah, we like him. He's as exciting a farm system product as the Sox have had since Nomar Garciaparra (and remember how he won ROY in 1997?). He doesn't have home run power, but he's never projected to be a power hitter. He's a slap hitter, a guy who gets on base and runs as fast as he can to score when, say, Big Papi gets up to the plate and booms out a double--or homer.

And as for the Melky Cabrera comparison, it's entirely true that Cabrera has better numbers. They are roughly the same age. However, you just can't compare the two at this stage in their careers. Cabrera was drafted out of high school in the Dominican, whereas Ellsbury was out of college (he'd been drafted by Tampa Bay out of high school but didn't sign, choosing to go to college instead). He's therefore played with aluminum bats for longer than Cabrera ever did, so he's still adjusting. In, you know, 3-5 years, come back and compare the two. I'm sure Cabrera will be an All-Star (no sarcasm), but Ellsbury will definitely be right up there with the best CFs in the league.

Can I also say: don't generalize about other teams' fans. I have several friends who are Yankees fans, but they have CLASS and they RESPECT the Sox, even if they hate 'em. I sure have respect for the Yankees, but as you might just be able to tell I don't like them either.

  4. I think Liza ia a fake. She is not a red Sox fan. A Red sox fan shows no compassion for anyone , anyplace, any city or any empire.

She sounds like George Bush talking about how he intends to respect the natural resources of this county.

Or Rumsfeld defending the military complex he sent into Iraq...you know, with with muskets and ford fiestas, instead of humvees and body armor.

Or Condolizza Riz calling Iran names for,
    " being un-American."

Come on Liza...own up. You are much too nice and well reasoned to be a Red Sox nation slave.

Join the world of the living. Vote "Joba" on Super Tuesday.

And be honest with yourself, as you have been honest with us; this is the only meaningful baseball blog in all the land.

    Come back to us often.

  7. I say, keep pushing Jacoby until he disappears over the wall.

Never let up, until we see him on the Boston streets with a large lawn and leaf bag, redeeming soda cans.

If he was the first ballplayer in the bigs from the Russian Steppes, we would still put him through his paces, right?

Keep trashing this dude. Never stop.

Better yet, lets have our government pick him up at some airport, send him to Egypt and render him extreme.

    It's legal, right?

    P.S. Did Liza ( with a "Z" ) bookmark this site?

I love a gal ( Red Sox fan )who can ask the 83rd most visited Yankee sports blog in the country," why are you prejudiced against Red Sox fans in general?"

That's like asking ; " has george Bush ruined this country?"
