Why Doesn't Anyone Ever Read Or Believe What I Say?

I told you all, before the season began, that this team sucked.

I told you this team is headed for third place.

I told you we would never win a Championship with A-Rod.

I told you we had too many old guys who were going to break down throughout the season.

I told you Joba would be a mediocre starter, and that we would lose game after game without an 8th inning sure thing.

I told you our minor league system ranked 24th , on average, for the last 10 years.

I told you that Cashman is a fraud, and one of the worst GM's in the game.

I told you that Marte and Nady were dumped on us by a much smarter Pirate organization.

I told you this team  could not hit the worst pitchers in AAA if we had to face them at the major league level.

I told you Girardi has no imagination or guts.

I told you A-Rod came back far too early; that he would re-injure himself; that he would wear out and hit .213; and that he has more surgery ahead of him.

I told you we had better pitchers in the Independent Dirt Field league In South Mexico than that collection of clowns we started the season with in our bullpen.

I told you that Nick Swisher was a liability in the field and on the bases.

I told you that Johnny Damon has a worse arm than I do ( mine used to be better).

I told you we would get swept in Boston and that we would be the team that got Big Papi out of his funk.

I told you Chien-Ming was a mental case.

I told you we would lose 2 of 3 to the Nats.

I am now telling you that I am sick of this, and taking the next bus back to the Cantina and our local brand of baseball.

Where we drink.  We hit.  We run the bases.  We hurl.

  1. You know something, it's not right to put your team down like this. I have been a huge Yankee fan since I was 4, and I never say something like this about my team, no matter how bad they are doing. I don't jump to conclusions when we lose 2 out of 3 to someone like the Nats. I don't say that my favorite team sucks when we are struggling at the moment. I don't just give up in the middle of June two games behind first place. You know what I do? I just put the loss behind me and focus on the next game. I do this every time the Yankees lose. Real fans have faith in their team. Real fans don't just throw in the towel. Real fans don't say their team sucks. We still have a long way to go. The All-Star Game hasn't even past yet. We have the talent. STOP BLASTING YOUR TEAM!

  2. If you like to live in a fantasy world, that is your choice.

How is the economy? Growing nicely? Portfolio up?

Plenty of high-paying job prospects out there?

  3. Fonz, you are an infallible seer and I absorb every word. I'd ask you who's going to win the 5th at Pimlico, but you'd only tell me which nags are going to come in last.

  4. No, I don't live in a fantasy world. I live in the real world where the economy is terrible. I'm just saying that you shouldn't say that kind of stuff about your own team. If you are going to insult your team like so, DON'T WATCH THEM! It's that simple!

  5. Eric,

I'm afraid you don't understand Alphonso. He is the most pessimistic Yankee fan in the world, because he believes that by being negative, the opposite will occur. It worked in the late 90s. He would say things, and they never came true -- to our delight.

Alphonso is just trying to win some ballgames for us. What are you doing?
