LET HATE END HERE III: OK, forget Pedro or Curt; let us forgive Nick Green

Yankiverse,

With the gold statue of supremacy in our hands and the eyes of the world upon us, we owe it to the 2009 Yankees to try and elevate the human quest.

At IT IS HIGH, we seek to end hate. All hate.

We hate hate.

(Technically, we don't really hate hate, because that would require hating, which we don't do.)

We sought to broker a peace offering to Curt Schilling. Many of you -- OK, all of you -- weren't ready. We tried a forgiveness campaign with Pedro Martinez. Most of you bastards turned that down, too.

It is time to build bridges, and maybe they don't need to span the Pacific Ocean. Let's start smaller.

IT IS TIME TO FORGIVE NICK GREEN!

We're talking about the former Yankee utility infielder who played for the Redsocks last year.

Yes, he's a turncoat. Yes, he signed with Boston. Yes, he played better for them than he did for us. Yes, he homered against us last season. Which really sucked. I'd list more, but we'll lose momentum.

C'mon, folks. He's just a guy named Nick. He's got a mom and dad. They love him. Cut him, he bleeds. Ease up.

LET. HATE. END. HERE.

READ THE PLEDGE AND SIGN YOUR NAME IN THE COMMENTS SECTION:

To make the world a better place, I -- (your name here) -- hereby absolve Nicholas Anthony Green for all his sins as a Redsock and welcome him into the Golden Fellowship of the Yankiverse, where he can enter each of the 27 Rings of Greatness in his personal quest to find peace.

LET. HATE. END. HERE.

Because we care.

  1. OK with me, but you may be going overboard with that Fellowship of the Rings thing.

Also, Green hit .240 with the Yankees in 2006 and .236 with the Red Sox in 2008. By necessity, he played more with the Sox, but not better.

As for leaving the Yankees, as a shortstop what was he supposed to do, wait until Derek Jeter died?

I'm looking forward to the Mike Lowell campaign.
