Reports out of Boston have multimillionaire John Henry's bloated Red Sox adding free agent hurler John Lackey to their solid gold charm bracelet of hired-gun mercenaries. Bad news indeed for the cash-strapped Yankees-- and for the increasingly-flimsy pretense of competition in Major League Baseball.
