Remember that guy Joe Mauer that we were saving our money for next year?

Well, he's not the Yankee catcher of the future, at least until age 35 and knee surgery. Then we'll get him. The Twins reportedly will sign him for 10 years. By then, the penguins will be extinct and Lake Itasca will cover Minnesota anyway -- eliminating the competition for Rochester, NY, as nation's top Rochester.

So that leaves Carl Crawford as the reason we penny-pinched this winter, right?

Let's just hope Tampa isn't 10-games out at the trade deadline, because, we don't have enough Jesus Monteros in the system to outbid the Redsocks -- who, by the way, did not trade any of their prospects this year, because they bought players. Like we did, back when we were The Yankees.

What's brought on this ugly, uppity, sarcastic tone?

The wait. I hate early February. Don't you get the feeling we're not done? Nope: we won't sign Johnny. But Cash-Towers will be watching several situations this spring -- LF, CF, RF, C, DH, bullpen, age of players, health of Arod, attitude of Cano -- more than usual. And unless certain players have great Grapefruit seasons, we're not done.

Seriously. Do you see us hoisting the 2009 World Championship flag, then sending out Jamie Hoffmann to play left field? For that to happen, he better hit in Tampa.

A lot of balls in play. Joe Mauer isn't one of them.
So who will we spend all that money on next December, aside from 37-year-old Jeet and 41-year-old Mariano? How about lakefront property in St. Cloud!

  2. Let me introduce you to Jesus. He's a catcher playing in triple A that is one of the top prospects in all of baseball. Oh and he's a Yankee.

  4. What kind of trade package do we have to send to Scranton in order to get Jesus ?
