The Master Is Under Attack

The Bearded Bleater is whining about the Shakespearian ad copy read during games by John and Suzyn -- messages that not only help the Yankees buy free agents, but also help drivers save up to 15 percent on their car insurance. That's right. Fifteen percent -- for a fifteen minute call!

But Murdoch's "Palin for President" Post doesn't want you to save any money. No. They want you to waste money on car insurance and not even keep your family safe and secure. The GOP Gazettes -- which knocked down restrictions on placing advertisements in political campaigns -- have problems with too many ads during Yankee games

SuperFrankenstein told me yesterday he listened to a half-hour of Vin Scully calling the Friday's game and had to turn it off. Not one advertisement in the whole shebang. Obviously, Scully cannot be trusted with ad copy. What a joke. No wonder they have Jeff Weaver! They're driven by Cheap.

Avengers, Assemble! Our leader is under attack!

  1. Mushhead just doesn't get it:
    1. He doesn't understand that while John should and must make mention of all the generous sponsors whose contributions make Yankee baseball broadcasts possible, the Master still finds time to teach the game to us. Without John we'd all still be thinking that baseball is predictable, and we'd all fail to realize that baseball is different than all other sports because the most important player, the pitcher, changes every day.
    2. He doesn't understand that without Suzyn we'd all have failed to realize that Derek Jeter is the greatest human being on the face of the earth, and without Suzyn, Yogi and George would not have reconciled, bringing tears of joy to our eyes and a glowing warmth to our hearts, but probably not Mushhead's.
    3. He doesn't understand that without the generous sponsorship of Lowe's John and Suzyn would not have a booth from which to broadcast. And without my 15-minute phone call to Geico I wouldn't be able to afford to take my family of 4 to a game at Yankee Stadium almost every season.
And if the USA had not been driven by Jeep to victory over the Berlin Nazis in WW II, Derek Jeter would not have been born because the Nazis would not have allowed his parents to marry.

  2. You know what's even better than listening to The Master read a Geico ad?

Listening to him read a promo for HBO's "Hung".

Damn you corporate lawyers for not allowing us to share this great moment of ad copy history.
