Jose Veras. Tanyon Sturtze.
Chan Ho couldn’t. Phil Coke could.
Bruney wouldn’t. Kerry would.

Innings eaters, also-rans.
Sergio Mitres. Chad Gaudins.
Claggett couldn’t. Joba should.
Farnsworth wouldn’t. Kerry would.

Mariano's final stand,
Who can reach his Promise Land?
For the eighth, it's understood:
We have one hope: Kerry Wood.
