Interview with Scott Ian, whose band played at the stadium Wednesday night.
As a kid, who was your favorite Yankees player?
Thurman Munson.
What was it about Munson that drew you to him?
To me, he just embodied the Yankees. He just had this toughness, this grittiness, beside the fact that he was such a great player, such a great offensive catcher. There was only him and Johnny Bench, at the time, who were really great catchers that could hit -- well, [Carlton] Fisk, too, you could put in that category, as well. That was a rare commodity back then.
Munson, he was just such a hard-nosed ballplayer. He was like a superhero to me. He just looked scruffy, just tough and kind of ornery. I just loved that about him. As a kid, he was just the coolest.
Where's Alphonso? These bloggers are acting like the playoffs are clinched.
