0-3 does not mean 0-162

We all know that every team gets swept once in a while.

Our edge is that we got that experience behind us early.

The great news is that tomorrow we go against a 1-9 pitcher whose ERA is 9.17. Ivan Nova gets the start and he has the chance to be
our " stopper" early. I just hope I'm wrong about what I feel will be a sophomore slump for the ages.

Except, of course, that the O's are now 3-0.

Also, Detroit got 3 in the bottom of the 9th to tie Boston. Hopefully, they find a way to win.

As for our offense, 3 hits and no runs. But several line drives represent reasons for optimism.

As for Hughes, everyone in Yankee land is highly encouraged. Not me, however. He took 99 pitches to go 4+ innings. This means that, just like last year, he does not have an out pitch. Let me repeat; he does not have an out pitch.

And, of course, he gave up a few homers as he always does and his control is marginal. Soon, we'll hear about a weak arm, right?

I may be the only one to say this, but Hughes should be pitching the 6th inning for us. He cannot start. If he remains our number three starter, our bullpen will die and the Yankees will need to score 10 runs a game to have a shot.

I still don't understand why we cut Cervelli for this 30 year old back-up catcher who has never been able to hit.

How did Montero do today?

  1. Maybe we'll go 0-163... the last loss coming in the Wild Card playoff.

    1) they didnt let Cervelli go, they just sent him to the minors... he'll be back with the Yanks dont worry.

2). Here is the reason they grabbed this 30 yr old backup catcher: pitch framing.

  4. Neil,

Holy crap! You might be onto something. Didn't the Redsocks lost their first six or seven games last year?
