Yankee Cast-Off Hits Walk-Off
Whilst we all watch Ichiro spin around at the plate, hit about .230 and get on base 2 times out of 10, a former Yankee is starting in the Baltimore outfield.
His name is Dickerson. Remember him? Great speed, glove and arm. Uncertain as to hitting prowess, because he had very few at bats at the major league level.
But he'd been at AAA too long for the Yankee brass to still consider him a prospect. I mean, you have to be 21 or 32+ for the Yankees to retain any interest in their AAA guys.
He came through for the Yankees on many occasions during his brief trips to the Bronx.
But "screw him," says Cashman, "I can get a five time all star to play right field."
So last night, Dickerson hits a 3 run walk-off homer in Baltimore's come-back win over Detroit.
What did Ichiro do?
