Okay, everybody: What are the odds that Garrett Cooper - after going 4 for 5 (and his only out was via a great play by Toronto's shortstop) and lifting his average to .364, where it was in Triple A - plays tonight? Or sees a pitch against Boston?
How is it that we're even asking this question?
ReplyDeleteIt would be shocking if Girardi puts this guy in the starting line-up. He's stuck to his guns on this: If you do well in Game A, you sit in Game B.
And they took it to the extreme with the guy Andujar. You go 3-for-4 in one game, we send you back to the minors and forget your name.
0% chance tonight. 3% chance for the entire Boston series. It's time we stop fighting, the binders will always win. We should admit defeat and beg the binders to be merciful.
ReplyDeleteThis absolutely cements Binders methodology if Cooper does not play,,,,,,
ReplyDeleteIt is a 100% certainty that Girardi will sit him down Much better to have a third baseman trying to learn first than a first baseman playing his natural position.
ReplyDeleteAlso, knowing Joe, he will want Cooper to " absorb" what he accomplished last night.
Let it sink in; for a week or two.
Why have a guy in the line-up who puts his bat on the ball?
We need more guys like Sanchez who will always strike out with RISP. Despite the occasional solo homer.
Cooper sits. No question.
And they should paint Girardi's face so that we never forget.
I DON'T SEE HOW HE CAN SIT COOPER TODAY.
ReplyDeleteTO HAVE HEADLEY AT FIRST, AND FRAZIER AT 3RD???
FRAZIER HAD 3 HITS LAST NIGHT, MAYBE HE SITS INSTEAD.
ISN'T IT HILARIOUS THAT THE ONLY GUY WE HAVEN'T MENTIONED BEING BENCHED TONIGHT IS HEADLEY, WHO HAD THE WORST GAME OUT OF THE 3 GUYS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.
CLINT FRAZIER ON THE DL TODAY....
THAT WILL HURT US IN BOTH BOSTON SERIES AND METS SERIES.
THE GUY HASN'T BEEN HITTING LATELY, BUT IT IS OBVIOUS HE CAN BE A HIGH PROFILE PERFORMER..... THESE GAMES COMING UP ARE ALL HIGH PROFILE, NOT TO MENTION THE 3 LEFTIES WE WILL FACE IN BOSTON.... I COULD SEE HIM HURTING THEM WITH THE GREEN MONSTER OUT THERE...... CAN'T HAPPEN NOW.
M'FER.
M'FER.

Headley is Girardi's Rock of Gibraltar, his foundation of strength. He is the last guy to sit. He will be in the lineup before, during and after the nuclear winter. The guy has had a decent second half in terms of batting average and a handful of doubles, shown himself to be a mildly useful player, but after 2.5 years of grimly walking back to the dugout while shaking his head, he still has lots of 'splainin' to do.
And Girardi and Cashman are the knucklehead enablers who paid him the money and kept him in the lineup.
Gary Cooper looks like a good player to me. He hits the ball hard, like a first baseman. Head Casely hits it like Chicken Stanley on steroids. Todd Frazier has a fun nickname. I'd rather Cooper was in the lineup.
But that aint gonna happen.
