  2. This is a sensible deal for everyone involved. It's great news.

Rather than give up prospects for Gerrit Cole, someone needs to whisper in the ear of Chad Green that, when he prepares this off season, perhaps he should think about preparing to be a starter vs. a reliever.

After that, let's let all the youngsters earn their spots on the team and if no one is making it, pull a trade for Cole or someone like him in July.

But really, this CC signing seems like good news.

  3. Why does anyone assume this means the end of the quest for another starter? Are you high, stupid or kidding?

  4. Sadly, you are right, M. Fraud. The reports are that we are STILL looking at Cole. AAARRRGHH!

And I don't understand your choices. Why couldn't we be high, stupid, AND kidding? We usually are!

  5. Signing CC tells me Pittsburgh wanted too much for Cole.

When CC breaks down later in the year, they can bring up Adams or Sheffield. It should work out fine.

  6. Let's hope you're both right, LBJ, and ranger_lp...LB (No J)

  7. Hoss,

    I resemble your remark!

Gerrit Cole had one good season. I'd pass. I'd rather see T. Frazier for a one-year rental {or Machado - if it doesn't include losing Red Frazier}.

Otherwise save the money for mid-season and play the youngsters.

Let Ellsbury ride the pine and pinch run occasionally. Then fill in for the expected (or contrived) injuries.

  8. WELL, I RATHER HAVE CC BACK THAN GIVING AWAY CLINT FRAZIER (AND WHO KNOWS WHO ELSE), FOR GERRIT COLE.

    PROBLEM IS THOUGH....

COOP MAY STILL BE WORKING THE PHONES ON THAT DEAL.

CAN'T COOP SEE THAT CLINT FRAZIER IS GOING TO BE, AND ALREADY IS, A WINNING BALLPLAYER?

I REALLY APPRECIATE GARDY, BUT IN ALL HONESTY, I RATHER GIVE UP GARDY AND REPLACE HIM WITH FRAZIER (EVEN THOUGH I KEEP PINING FOR ANOTHER LEFTY BAT IN OUR LINEUP).

I BELIEVE HE WILL BE THAT GOOD.

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH KEEPING CLINT LIES WITH COOP'S LOVE FOR AARON HICKS.

I STILL FEEL THAT HICKS IS A GLORIFIED 4TH OUTFIELDER. (HOPE I'M PROVED WRONG).

IT'S FUNNY, IF WE DID AWAY WITH CLINT FRAZIER FOR GERRIT COLE, SUDDENLY, THE ANDREW MILLER TRADE KIND OF FEELS LIKE SHIT TO ME. (MILLER FOR COLE AND JUSTUS).

    I DON'T KNOW....I HOPE I'M WRONG.

    I'M ALWAYS HOPING I'M WRONG.

    FUCK THIS.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS.

  9. I agree, ALL-CAPS.

I also think the Yankees need to move away from the idea of the 13-man pitching staff, much as they seem addicted to it. It just limits their choices off the bench too much.

I have higher hopes for Hicks than you do—and as he's younger, and MAY have more skills at this point, I guess I would favor him over Gardy, who I would be sad to lose, but who we're not going to keep much longer in any case.

The guy who has to, has to, has to go is Ellsbury. Really. Right down to the point of simply releasing him, if nothing else will do.

We absolutely have to give C. Frazier a real shot. And we need to look good and hard at Hicks, McKinney, Cave, and Austin. Out of those four, there's a good chance that 1-2 will be valuable contributors.

Ellsbury—and, sadly, Gardner—are the past. Their time has run out.

  10. I HEAR YA HOSS.....

    ELLSBURY IS NUTS.

I DON'T SEE WHERE HE GETS ANY PLAYING TIME AT ALL.

    I GUESS HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT.

    SIT AND COLLECT.

    RED SOX PRIDE.

  11. Agree with you, Hoss and All-Caps: we need to keep Frazier, and give McKinney, Cave & Austin a look, too...don't have all that much faith in Hicksy (as Joey Binders called him), at this point. Hope I'm wrong, too, because I can't see Cash-Puss giving up on Hicksy. LB (No J)
