As Winter Descends...

The Poet Percy Bysshe Shelley returns:

" .....And on the pedestal these words appear:  My name is Brian Cashman, king of kings:  Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair !"

" Nothing beside remains:  round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, the lone and level sands stretch far away."

- The world of Humanity ( sans Boston) awaits.

  1. Maybe Hal can channel his inner Liam Neeson and toss Cash into the East River?

  3. "During the last years of his life Shelley took no heed of food. Mrs. Shelley used to send him something to eat into the room where he habitually studied, but the plate frequently remained untouched for hours upon a bookshelf, and at the end of the day he might be heard asking, 'Mary, have I dined?'”

From what I have read, Gary Sanchez has similar eccentricities.

  5. He was sailing and drowned. Bryon visited and helped Mary burn the body, as I recall. Shelley - Percy Bysshe, that is - burned, but his heart would not burn, so I think they wrapped it up in paper and kept it. I'm not making this up, but I AM noting it down from a very old memory. Lots of strange things happened along the way to jar a few brain cells.

  7. Shelley was a real character and a good poet, but he was no Shelley Berman.

"The old problems - love, money, security, status, health, etc. - are still here to plague us or please us."

    The man is deep.

  8. Apparently it's very difficult to burn the heart. They were aways torching people back in the old days, then being astonished that their heart hadn't burned, and thinking it was a miracle.

In fact, as i think Woody Allen said, the heart is a very resilient organ. Literally.

  9. so many good quotes from shelley that I'm tempted to change my blog identity to Percy Bysshe Berra and post next year using only his words to comment on things.

shit, that's too much work. I need ice cream and will sign off like "LB, noJ" as "ice cream, no sandiwiches."

I love you all, hale and hearty fellows.
